Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
This is my first attempt at something like this. (Also, it's been a while, guys...) Anyway, my art is exclusively rotoscoping, so I tried a Hotel Dusk: Room 215 style. What do you think?
The best reason to get up in the morning is to outdo yourself: to do it better than you've ever done it before. But if you haven't done it better by nightfall... look at your globe and pick a spot: it's always morning somewhere.

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
I think that as a style that could work well, but even if you are rotoscoping, it would be a good idea to practice drawing a bit. I'm sorry if I'm being too blunt here, but your lines all have the same weight, and they're a bit lifeless. The density of details isn't ideal either; you're drawing as much attention to the clothing folds than to the face, which is obviously not what you want. I think this style works a bit better than your usual one, but there's no easy way to make pleasant art without a lot of effort; and I think you could improve a lot if you just took a month and did nothing but studies in pencil. (Is this honest critique?)Gear wrote:This is my first attempt at something like this. (Also, it's been a while, guys...) Spent yesterday doing a test with Blender's reprojection feature. It takes a screenshot of your 3D model, exports it to your 2D software of choice, and then applies any paintover you make to the actual texture again. I've been doing 3D for 11 years now, and I have absolutely no idea how this could possibly work without Voodoo magic. I love it though, in some ways it's the best of both worlds.

Hi everyone...I made an account quite a long time ago but I never post anything decent at here XD
This is a crappy drawing that I produced recently, sadly I don't have a tablet so I just draw on a piece of paper ヽ(´・д・`)ノ

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Tried pixel art for the first time today (also my first time posting in this thread?!)
I've always wanted to be able to do pixely stuff, so I just played around with a little chibi. I think it would look better if I was more comfortable with shadows and where to put 'em. I'm working on that, though.
Been focusing a lot on anatomy studies the last week. I can already see improvement in my full body sketches.
Tentatively working on my first project ☆

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
@aRLegOdDesS: That looks really pretty! I wish I drew hands as well as you did here XD I really like her in your avatar picture as well (Also, can I please have her dress?)
@Gear: Well, not sure how much my cents are worth, but I usually think that rotoscoping does appear to be pretty characterless (with exceptions of course), mostly when it comes to shading. But I really like the shading in this picture! Although I do agree with Carassaurat that the shading in the face is less emphasized than the clothing folds. I hope that wasn't too harsh, also I haven't studied art so take everything with a grain, or a whole glass, of salt DX The plus side of the rotoscoping is that the posing and proportion is spot-on XD
@TsukiShima: Nomnom, Captain America XD Love the caption as well hahahah! XD
@noctos: That is absolutely adorable! I can never quite fathom how people make amazing art out of pixels like that, but nice work!
---
I am slowly thinking up another character for my story idea, though it didn't turn out quite how I imagined XD
Anyway, since I started trying to draw a bit mre realistically/more varied and differentiating features, I realized that I pretty much only draw girls in my own image (I guess I think of myself as god ) So since a while ago I've been practicing bit by bit some different races etc., and as I thought up this character WIP, I realized that this is actually the first time I've ever drawn a black male. So I put a bit more effort into his facial features and such than usual, and I must say I'm pretty satisfied for a first try! I don't have a complete clear idea of what his character is like yet, other than having a mostly serious, stoic persona.
(Also, sorry about the lighting, can't take a picture without casting a shadow DX)
