Hey! That's MY house over there!
This is your hobby? You definitelly have more freetime than I thought!
Aren't you supposed to be busy making some money to pay for their Christmas Bonuses?
Anyway, About your image. I have more than enough reason to believe that this fictional place called Richville is based on a real-life location?
Let me guess,
Xavierville Subdivision, Quezon City
And my house happened to be in there.
It's quite obvious pareng John, the shape of my new house, the color of the gate, the paint and the motorola Canopy Antenna on top of the house.
Everything is in there.
Hmm, maybe I too should post my art someday.
"ZOOM" (Yeah I know, cheap immitation )

Pin-pon! You got the secret to good backgrounds. Real-Life locations, +/- "artistic touches"
To make it more realistic, add more light filters and grime / wear n tear -- sprinkle like in salt n pepper.
playboy >>
Xavierville is upper-middle class but no way Richville. Richville is more like La Vista, where houses are like in Miami or California, have their own circular driveways and crap. Of course I don't live there, since its impossible to traverse unless you have a car. I still prefer a walkable neighborhood where you can also grab a Tricycle if you're tired.
The picture could also be Esteban Abada, will in other words its a typical street.

Since it takes so long between me finishing up a drawing, I always feel like spreading it around in random places when it is finally done..... ^^;
Anyway, here is Zyra, one of the female leads in the game I'm making:
Again, this isn't a picture that will be in the game... but still...
(sorry about the image size)

Here's a new work in progress. I can't make the lineart properly until I buy a new mouse tomorrow. My old one keeps double-clicking everything.
How do you make your games? I see. Thank you for the prompt replies, but it is my considered opinion that you're doing it wrong inefficiently because I am a perfushenal professional. Do it my way this way and we can all ascend VN Nirvana together while allowing me to stroke my ego you will improve much faster. Also, please don't forget to thank me for this constructive critique or I will cry and bore you to death respond appropriately with a tl;dr rant discourse of epic adequately lengthy proportions. - Sarcasm Veiled in Euphemism: Secrets of Forum Civility by lordcloudx (Coming soon to an online ebook near you.)

A little coloring practice I did a while back...did everything in Photoshop and I guess I like how it turned out, although I kinda wished it would be better. It's somehow..."flat" to me.

n9261andvari: Nice lighting effects. Did you do the lineart from pencils?
Well... I got my new mouse. It's a cheap usb optical mouse, but it does the job for me. I thought It'd be fun to show how I transform the image from rough sketch to digital art.
Phase 1 digital tracing plus preliminary coloring complete. No shading nor colors on the facial features yet.

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
I wish I had more stuff to show, but the last things I've done are mostly commissions/things I can't show/things already in my dA gallery =_=;
So for now I just have a small preview of an assignment picture that it's also gonna be featured on a friend's artbook that will be sold at a malasyan convention thingie. EDIT:
Ok, I have another one I just finished... part of my "Astre@" project, it's the first sprite I'm doing, mainly to test the color pallette and coloring style. I only have colored the base stuff, I need to work on the arm poses and expressions now >_o

When drawing something, anything, USE REFERENCES!! Use your Google-fu!
Don't trust your memory, and don't blindly trust what others teach you either.
Research, observation, analysis, experimentation and practice are the key! (:

3 hours works after a sudden impulse.
Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Deji, how long did that sprite take?
And who are the writers for the two projects?
I wish there is a store called Artistic Talent where one can just shop and upgrade from off-the-shelf skills.
I just started adopting variable-line-width in my inking technique, and spent the entire Sunday (about 8 hours) just on the lineart. I haven't even started coloring yet. Still, I felt so unproductive.
