Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
wow! Two votes for the soft outlines already. Thanks monele and hime....姫 hee! Actually, I think my drawing skills are the same as when I first joined here. I just put a lot more effort in the digital coloring for this one.
How do you make your games? I see. Thank you for the prompt replies, but it is my considered opinion that you're doing it wrong inefficiently because I am a perfushenal professional. Do it my way this way and we can all ascend VN Nirvana together while allowing me to stroke my ego you will improve much faster. Also, please don't forget to thank me for this constructive critique or I will cry and bore you to death respond appropriately with a tl;dr rant discourse of epic adequately lengthy proportions. - Sarcasm Veiled in Euphemism: Secrets of Forum Civility by lordcloudx (Coming soon to an online ebook near you.)

I'll go with the majority in this one: soft.
Korina Sanchez: Ex-sensei Mel, we've met again.
Mel Tiangco: I'm expecting this from my former student.
Korina Sanchez: I know all along the reason for your presence.
Mel Tiangco: Of course. Your hairbrush.
Korina Sanchez: Snatch it again? Well, you're mistaken. It's because my hairbrush's container is packed with security features. What's your say?
Mel Tiangco: If you can do security... (pause) then 120% of my strength will shatter it!

soft!
Black/dark outlines tends to "eat" part of the vividness of the colors; it's too strong, so to compensate you have to use very strong colors and contrasted shadows. With a softer or lighter lineart, your colors stand out more =3

When drawing something, anything, USE REFERENCES!! Use your Google-fu!
Don't trust your memory, and don't blindly trust what others teach you either.
Research, observation, analysis, experimentation and practice are the key! (:

Oh when I was a little kid, I used to love Kamen Rider so much. Here is a fanart of Kamen Rider X. Hope you like it.
Does anyone here know Kamen Rider =D?

M12: You know I've always thought your cg technique resembled that of the Kanon visual novel. Would you be willing to share how it's done?
I'd like to try it on this newly colored lineart.
And yeah, I used to watch a tagalog version of Masked Rider called Masked Rider Black. I liked how he only used a powered-up punch/kick to finish off much stronger opponents.
There was also a series called Masked Rider Ryuki where all the riders were involved in some kind of war and were actually fighting each other instead of monsters.

Soft, soft, soft! The black outlines make it look a tad rough and edgy.lordcloudx wrote:Time to revive this thread again. This is going to be used on one of my games. Which one looks better? Hard or soft outlines?
Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Well, lordcloudx, first of all, I vote for the soft outlines too =D.
Oh man Kamen Rider Black is the first I've ever seen (I was like five at the time) and will always be my favourite. Rider Kick!!
Ehem, about the technique. I just do a rough sketch with the wacom. Then, on a new layer, I trace the sketch with the pen tool, then go to "fill strokes". After all, I delete the sketch layer, and I have some clean lines, drawn using fill strokes =D.

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Kamen Rider Black was one of those shows I watched during my childhood (I know how you feel, lordcloudx). It's one of the shows that sucked me into the tokusatsu world.
And KR Ryuki has an American adaptation, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. The show will air on CN America next year.
