I've been experimenting with other art styles in the past few months, and I just did this. It's kinda okay but I'm tired and might dislike it tomorrow, but whatever. Don't know how to draw leather though. Any pointers would be nice. Higher quality below (I think.)

Well, I'm in the middle of creating a small Victorian Macabre Mystery VN that involves several small mysteries all tangles with each other. In the process of making characters to fill out my cast, I might have stolen a few familiar faces. ♥

Don't worry! I do not intend to use any familiar character names. I'm not suicidal.

For those who may not know, I like to make my game characters semi-animated, that's why the arms are all (rather obviously) hinged.

I agree. 'Simple' is easy to grasp and navigate.

My GUI designs are actually very simple. I just made complicated graphics and swapped them with the standard Ren'py graphics using the tutorial posted above.

@Valhalla: Thanks! I really like the GUI from your game Resurface too, very neat and good looking.

@OokamiKasumi: I think my problem is that most of the time the graphics I make don't go well with each other... Or at least I think so.
For example, sometimes I start making the textbox first, but when I finish making the Main Menu screen or the Options screen they kinda clash with the textbox, or they clash with each other, and in the end the graphics simply don't look good together... Something like that. I think I got better since my first attempts though, so at least I don't think they clash so much anymore.

@Hoyuu: Thank you! I'm honestly at a point where I want to change it again... Haha.

I think the new menus go with the other ones, but I know what you're saying. I think it's because as your working you're also learning and you sometimes find you can do something a different way then worry you have to go back and do everything again to make it the same (At least that's the case for me T_T). But yeah, I don't think the new graphics clash with the old ones at all =)

This is one of our love interests, Vera Oberlin. We're trying to add some animation loop to the design, to improve the production value of the game! (:
