Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Remember the poor girl from my Flattest Mobile Phone picture? She's back! This time she's really hooked in new 3D TV that people are talking about. So she bought one and tried it at home as soon as she can. This is the second time I make advertising piece and I doubt this will be the last since there are so many ideas about advertisement piece in my head right now (though not all of them are comedies).
The inspiration this time comes from the recent booming 3D LED TV. Word Cup 2010 will utilize this new technology on several major plays. Those who lucky to have this new TV (and have the service aired on their country) would be among the first to taste the new technology in action. The TV itself is pretty expensive (US$2.000 ? 8.000).
--------------------------------------
This time there is nothing particularly hard in the making of this piece. Perhaps the only difficulty I had when I was making the soccer ball since I had to browse the internet to look for picture reference to new Jabulini ball.
But I wonder if everyone understand the punchline in this piece? Though I'm pretty sure anyone who already watched a certain movie would instantly understand the meaning.
---------------------------------------
As usual, if you are interested in higher resolution version, you could download it from my DA account.

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Hi! I'm new at Lemmasoft forums and this is a example of my art style...
It's pretty much the only decent I can put on right now.
It's a pixie named Feira. It turned out Arabian-is.
I don't really know if thats a good thing or not, but- here it is!
(Ignore the pink stuff to the left- oopsy..
...And the left hand... )

Redoing this piece later. I'm still not satisfied with it. I have a lot I need to fix.

Nice colors and the pose itself is great, fitting the mood of the scene

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
I did a sketch the other night of a friends OC. Cause I felt like I need to practice drawing males more. Well I ended up turning his character into quite a bishie it seems. I enjoyed it =P

Added sparkles and the chibis cause I just had fun with it after a while xD;
I really need to do more practice with my tablet as well. . . = w=

Don;t worry about that, take your time!
And to know that you like my games...

Back on topic, did you make the background yourself? It's so... WOW.

Ara~ :: Thank you. <3
Yeah, I made the background, but it's half cheating. It's a combination of digital painting and photo manipulation. My spatial reasoning is actually pretty nil, so I used a stock photo as my base for the city and mixed filters with digital painting to get it to look like that. The sky and other bits are all digitally painted, but yeah. Total cheating. >.>~

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
It's different for each photo I work with, but the rough process is as so:
-Acquire photograph.
-Erase sky (leaving the buildings or whatever on a layer with transparency where sky should be).
-Adjust color. Usually you're looking to increase the brightness and the saturation, since general BGs are brighter looking than normal photos. I always play with adjusting brightness, levels, huge, and saturation. Sometimes I use color variation, especially if the scene is "colored" like a night or sunset scene.
-Filter photo. There are tons of different filters that all work to varying degrees. My personal Photoshop favorites are paint daubs and smart blur. For the original set of RE:A backgrounds, I also vectorized the images using Vector Magic.
-Paint sky. I digitally paint the entire sky on a layer beneath the filtered and adjusted photo. Pay attention to the light source in the photo so that you draw your sun or moon in the right place.
-Paint photo. Paint over anything in the digital photo that looks out of place. Some lines will need to be straightened out, certain outlines should be made more obvious, etc. Basically paint over anything that still looks too much like a filtered photo. I also use this time to add details like the moonlight shining on the building on the left.
-Paint everything else. Add whatever else to the scene you need (in this case, the fence).
-Merge and do final touch ups. I occasionally need to do "replace color" on the photo to make the lighting look right. It's also sometimes beneficial to use the "diffuse glow" filter (just turn the noise part off).
Tada! Backgrounds for the perspective-impaired (like me XD). The most important parts, I think, are to adjust the colors and draw the sky yourself. That's what really makes it look like a fully painted background to me.
