How Often Do You Draw?

#1 Post by briannavon »

This is a question for everyone who is drawing (duh!). How often do you draw? Everyday (please don't say that because even though I like drawing, this feels like too much) or 3-4 times a week?

I'm sorry but I'll have to say every day XD Either it's work-related or for personal use. It's not weird in my opinion, since I also gain money from it.

Everyday. Hmm...Seriously, I draw everyday even if it's just a hour to the whole morning/afternoon. I draw a lot of faces, trying various of emotions, poses, etc. like scenery, backgrounds thingy to shapes, drawing buildings, cities, nature. Since I'm still in the base of studying, I draw a lot and always trying to improve, digital or traditional. It's not too much if you want to improve more. I need to draw all the time for projects, friends, school, and many other things. As much time as you can spend to draw, as better you are. So, it's never too much I guess.

I too, draw everyday but not always the same time. On week days i draw between 1 and 3 hourse and on weekend i can draw more than 8 without a break so it deapens on how much time i have.

At first, I only drew every few days to ease myself into drawing.
Now I draw everyday.
How long for depends on what I'm doing and what mood I'm in.
On a good day, up to 6 hours.
On a bad day, 1 hour.

My illustration teacher said you need to draw from life (as in looking at an object or a person irl at drawing it) 1 hour every day :P
I usually draw 6/7 days a week, almost exclusively for work and projects!

When drawing something, anything, USE REFERENCES!! Use your Google-fu!
Don't trust your memory, and don't blindly trust what others teach you either.
Research, observation, analysis, experimentation and practice are the key! (:

yup... I need to echo everyone else!
I do a daily drawing/sketch (usually with some sort of emotional base), that takes an hour or more... plus I try and work on project related stuff most days as well, so it's even longer ^^;

Afraid I also draw every day. Even if sometimes it's just silly sketches in my noteblock because I have nothing to do. It's relaxing, oddly. (And has replaced any desire to write. ヾ(´A`)ノ゚)

I draw everyday even if I don't complete something. (I should draw from life more often though). There are times where I will have severe art block and not draw, but I'm trying to get over those. Even when you have art block, you should draw something because:

1) Draw more, you improve more.
2) Drawing everyday is how you maintain your skills.

In addition, if you're going to get serious about drawing look up resources and actually read and study them. We have a sticky-ed resources thread (which I'm afraid barely anyone actually looks at :? ) for that purpose after all.

The internet is a haven of art tutorials, resources, and guides to help a person improve. Art is not just drawing, but it IS a study of observation and practice.

Yeah. For anime drawing, which ones would recommend?

Quite honestly, it changes A LOT how much I draw .___. I've just had a period where I would draw almost all day, every day. But right now I probably draw not more often than every other day.

Lately, it's been everyday (mainly because of projects going on right now, etc). On average, maybe 3-4 hours a day?
I need to actually start drawing from references again rather than doodling for fun, haha.

Almost Everyday! Well, if I can anyway.
Though, I've been drawing mostly in Digital then traditionally for a while.

Luckily, I just bought myself a small hidden sketchbook to hide under my desk just in case I'm in the mood to draw with a pencil.
(I hide it because it holds the most personal of things inside! ...By that, I mean my badly drawn lewd pictures.)
Much Appreciated for those who took the Survey!
