Can someone line art/color this and explain how to?

#1 Post by briannavon » Sun Oct 20, 2013 1:48 pm

I now know that since I have a thread for other people to give me requests, a request of my own should not be in there.

So, to explain. I have tried using GIMP for coloring. The problem is it's super confusing. I am an extreme
amature , so can someone do it, then tell me step by step how they did it, and tell me where every tool they used is located?

I found several Gimp tutorials just by searching Deviantart.

http://www.deviantart.com/art/Gimp-Tuto ... -208519257 (Lineart tutorial)
http://teraquads.deviantart.com/art/Col ... -125830252 (Coloring Part 1)
http://teraquads.deviantart.com/art/Col ... -180864955 (Coloring Part 2)

I just gave them a glance and they seem to be pretty thorough in instructions.

I've just checked on GIMP, but using layer to color your drawing would probably be a good thing, and put the colors' layer under the lineart's layer, so that you'll always see the lineart.

EDIT: Here is what I did with your drawing on gimp with the mouse of my laptop only, it may help you: (check out in detail the names of the different layer, it may be more useful than what I've written)
I created several layer: one for the lineart (+one other for the lineart details, not really important one though), a white one and left your own drawing as a layer :)
step1.jpg
Then, I started to create a layer per color you wanted on your drawing: check out the order of the different layers! on these layer I start to color
step2.jpg
Then I color the skin layer, no worries if the color goes on the hair: the hair layer is on the skin layer, so the hair color will be on the skin color :)
step3.jpg
Then I obtain the drawing you did, but as you can see, the lineart is still here! :)
step4.jpg
Oh, I didn't have much time but it took me only 5 minutes to get everything done, to this point:

Added blush + reflect in the eyes and on the hair
I hope it helped :)
