Here at the Asset Creation section, one of the most common questions I see popping up is how to utilize digital art programs in order to do nifty things like lineart and shading. It seems there's a lack of direction when it comes to coloring and making the most of your programs, so I decided to compile a list of coloring/lineart tutorials since our Art Learning Resources thread is more geared towards getting people started on drawing and learn basic art concepts like anatomy, color theory, perspective, shapes, etc. (If you're a beginner please, please, PLEASE take a look at that thread it's very helpful on getting started).

**You do NOT have to draw/color in anime/manga style for your VN. A large majority of these tutorials do lean towards that style, but the techniques shown can be easily applied to any other style. Not all digital art is anime/manga after all.**

That being said, go for whatever you want to draw. So to reiterate again, this is a list for people who need to get an idea of how to approach CGing using programs like Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop in order to improve coloring in the digital medium. There is no rule saying you need to follow these tutorials to a tee. These are here to help you learn techniques and perhaps make something unique of your own so experiment, experiment, experiment! Unfortunately, most of these only cover Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop, but you'll find that most of the techniques shown here do translate to other digital art programs that use layers like GIMP and FireAlpaca.

Highly recommend for Sai users who have trouble trying to find their own "style" and want to try something new.
4. Digital Brushes - a Tumblr for Photoshop brushes; collection by artists who share their custom brushes to be downloaded and used by other people
5. ConceptCookie - ConceptCookie is a group of artists whose main purpose is to create a variety of digital art tutorials. They are a rich resource which I highly recommend to check out for both beginners and seasoned artists.
6. MasterGIMPers - MasterGIMPers is a DA group with some resources for GIMP.
7. Everything FireAlpaca - A Tumblr dedicated to users of FireAlpaca (and by extension, Medibang Paint Pro)
8. Fire Alpaca Basics - by LeslieLu Marie; an in depth video showing off basics of Fire Alpaca, for people who want to see the program in action.

You're welcome. Most of these are found on Deviantart and I highly encourage people to do their own research and seek out resources for themselves.

I'm adding links to a general guide to Fire Alpaca; that program is free and lightweight and I think people who want to dip their toes into the digital medium, but can't afford SAI or Photoshop could benefit from it.

Added a link called "Blending With Hard Brushes." For people who digitally paint and render portraits and use soft brushes too often, I suggest you take a look at that link.

That blending one with hard brushes is a real good tutorial who would have guessed that you would have had to add multiple colors and change each and every ones opacity, when i attempt to blend i just throw a small amount of the colors together and mush them up and actually to be honest i rarely blend because i don't understand it so this actually helps a little thanks for sharing. (I will keep that post on tabs)

OP post is updated with a new link. There's some newer ones and I suggest checking it every once and a while to see if I update since I don't always make a new post announcing links.

And as I said before, if you find a digital tutorial that helped you that isn't on this list, I'd be happy to add it to the OP.

Updated a list with a link to Manga Studio Tutorials. I think this may be useful since more and more people are using Manga/Clip Studio but there aren't many tutorials on Deviantart.

EDIT: Warning there aren't any visuals for instructing, just text. If someone can find better tutorials I'd be grateful.

Added more links that have to do with Clip/Manga Studio 5. Searching for video tutorials for that program have been more successful than searching Deviantart or Tumblr so far and it might be helpful for people who want to see people drawing digitally in action

These are a great list of tutorials! I'm glad I took someone's advice and went to Lemmasoft! I'm still quite new here, and these tutorials are helping a great ton!
