[Tutorial] Drawing Character Sprites in Proportion

#1 Post by Reikun » Thu Jan 09, 2014 11:45 am

This tutorial addresses drawing character sprites in proportion (i.e. making sure your height differences are somewhat accurate).
It works best for drawing full-body sprites but of course you're free to adapt my methodology as you see fit.

This tutorial assumes you have knowledge of your favorite/preferred drawing program but does not entirely assume you have knowledge of spreadsheet programs (since I don't think everyone uses them.) If any explanations are unclear let me know!

This is not a definitive solution to drawing characters proportionally, just one solution that has helped me and might help someone else too! This same tutorial is also available on deviantart and tumblr for people who use those sites to collect references.

Hope it helps!

This is pretty cool :0 I guess because I draw traditionally and then scan my images, I never thought about doing it in this way seeing as I can put the pictures side by side and see.
