Er This is the first time I've ever really posted anything on this site aside from comments, so this might be in the right section. But here it is, I'm not the best when it comes to art. I'm okay-ish but nowhere near the level I'd like to be. So I was thinking of using material for backgrounds found in the creative commons section. After looking though I can't really seem to find anything that fits under my projects theme.
I'm looking for fantasy themed backgrounds, forests, old towns, abandoned towns, an old tower, caves to name a few. I'll still be looking around but I figured that there might be people on this site who have been around longer and possibly knows more than I do when it comes to searching for assets to use?

Have you considered checking our Creative Commons forum? There's quite a bit of resources in there.

Yeah, went through all the pages, found some useful things, but not for the current project I'm working on now. ^^;

Posting request is highly possible. You can make it partnership by recruiting someone, or you can open request by detailing your needs in your post.
Example: if you need a cave, you need to find the photo that suits your needs, then to find an art coloring that you like, and you can keep the details for person you recruited (1) or include it in your post (2).
Good luck.

Also, if you're looking for something very specific, there's our Recruitment forum. Bring some money, though

Thank you QAQ, sadly I lack money otherwise I totally would go to the recruitment forum >_<. I'm doing most of all the work myself (its my first visual novel) I wanted it to look more professional than what I can do at the moment (namely backgrounds) ^_^;;. I'll keep working on it though *A*

Another way: Check sites like deviantart for free photos, then use photomanipulation software like Dynamic Auto Painter (DAP) to turn them into something that looks drawn and/or painted. I did that for Romance is Dead (linked in my signature).
