Show your base sketch xD

#1 Post by King-sama »

Yeah, I wanna see everyone's unique sketches lol

Surprisingly, sketches tend to look better than the lineart -even in digital! ;A;

I usually start with a few quick undersketches that look like this:

I know you didn't ask, but if you're interested here's my usual work flow from there -- for example, I quite liked this sketch:

so I added details like so:

A complete sprite from A to Z looks like this for me:

Sprite

Sadly, my sketches are only amazing when the pose or the drawing is dynamic/in motion. Or when I'm focusing more on the big picture rather than the small details. The sketches for my fanart of Kagepro tend to look better because the designs are simple, so I don't have to worry about the small details.

Also, ignore naked dude and his muscles. I suddenly felt like mapping out all the muscles, to see if I've forgotten them.

Aww your sketches are fantastic! *O* I tend to think that this kind of torso where the upper part is smaller than the bottom one is weird, but now I see yours.....I guess it changed my mind about it!! also... LOVE your LEGS!!! gemme!

Haaah, I know exactly what you mean with dynamics turn better (and actually the details problem too)....I had that problem too and now I have problems with dynamics and non-dynamics....the result of trying to improve the past year =_='

I start with a REALLY rough first sketch. Mostly to get the energy and gesture down first before I get to refining and trying to get any sort of anatomy perfection. A cartoony and exaggerated doodle to start out with is a good way to get energy in your final drawing even if you refine it a lot after I find. :3

I don't really have much for bases-
They all just turn out naked before I put clothes on
And then I clean the sketch further//
I fix anatomy and etc. along the way I suppose;;

And then if I'm not up for lining the cleaned sketch,
I'll pick a color scheme or something in the meantime!

I usually add clothes as I'm sketching through the base and erase the base very shortly after (sorry) so a sketch I use for lining on top might look like this:
NorikoShells.JPG
The finished product will look like this
Hikaru.JPG
or this.
