I hope this is the right place to put this, I'm a little bit in shambles right now.. If it's not the right place I am very very sorry..

So I was on facebook today, updating stuff on my visual novel, and something was brought up about the outfit of one of my sprites. In particular, this one:


They said that it looks like Asuna's outfit from SAO. I've been working on the story and concept art for my visual novel for many years, and came up with this character long before I watched SAO..but now I'm extremely worried since someone brought that up. I'm assuming that the outfit they were referring to was this one:


Are their outfits too similar? My anxiety has been really bad today and this kinda tipped me over the edge into extreme panic mode.. I would be extremely thankful for any feedback I can get on this..

It looks similar, but there's more detail to your sprite's outfit compared to Asuna's. Also your color scheme is different (there's not red/orange).

There are some similarities, but not nearly enough to where you could say they're identical. The color is different, and yours has many more accessories.

Thank you, but does it look as if I've ripped off the outfit? I'll change the outfit if I have to..(Though it would slow down my process by a lot..all those CG's I'd have to go back and change, etc.)

Honestly said, i dont think you have to worry. In first place, ask yourself, DID you rip it off? No.

There you have your answer. It may be a bit similar but its a completly diffrent drawing.
There are many characters already created and its bound to happen that some are similar.

Just if intented to be the same/similar, trying to copy it or done with bad intent its wrong.

So dont worry (:

The way you worded this helped me so much. My anxiety sometimes gets a little out of control and it's really embarrassing. I never really thought about it like that, but it makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much!
