What are the last three topics you looked up when researching for your current story?
For Telemon, I just looked up spacecraft reentry, future architecture and
comfort objects.
For Half Earth, I'm building the cosmology and I'm trying to get inspired from 1984, buddhist reincarnation and Dragon Ball Z cosmology.

This looks interesting!
I can remember two of the topics I used for my research: star constellations and spring events.

For A Close Shave the last three things I looked up were:
Chicago Gangster "Bloody" Angelo Genna.
Cigar brands available in 1922.
Type, cost, and availability of various camera models in 1922.

I've had to research planetary movement, the ice age, the effects of nuclear fallout, time travel theory, and optical evolution hypotheses.

Best thread ever <3
Last topics were:
Archaeological context
"Caves in Context" (basically everything about caves in Europe)
Flintknapping, with focus on percussion flaking.
It helps that I've experienced this stuff first-hand, but it's always good to keep up-to-date.

I spend a lot of time reading through the DSM-IV for specific information about personality disorders and other mental issues. The rest of the background info for this particular story comes from either personal experience or stories shared in group therapy sessions.
(And yes, I know the DSM-5 is out now, but I probably won't be affording it anytime soon.)

Coincidentally, one of my three most recent things is Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
The other two are salt flats and defense contractors.

Hahaha narcissism is one of the more amusing things to write, but a total pain to live around...but that puts us a little off-topic so I'll add that I just did some research on the declining housing market in Detroit today to use as a model for a "modern dying city" setting.

Usually spend most of my time researching costumes worn during Venetian carnivals and other events similar to it. Also spend a lot of time looking at different Italian architecture.

An interesting little thread.
For the current arc of my VN, Phantasmagoria, the subjects I've been looking into are
Grecian underworld mythology
Thanatophobia (the fear of all things related to death)
Psychosis (both medical and social)
On a more practical level,
weapon art design
Victorian/Gothic clothing design

Huh, I've just looked up fluorescent lighting, and before that, dream enhancement methods and sleep aids. I haven't written anything that isn't incredibly short for quite a while, so these things have only been mentioned in passing.
I'm working on learning Lojban, though, because there's something I want to use it to write.

In my research todo list:
Automobiles and their future, modern architecture, hypersonic vehicles
I need to learn to take notes.

We should bring more conlangs to visual novels.

My last research topics are about personality disorders like multiple personality disorder, narcissism, anti-social and schizoid.
I'm really interested in writing a story with a MC that have a personality disorder.
I'm more interested in the psychological factor of the characters than the theme itself.
I noticed that most of the research topics that you research are more on objects and settings. And WOW, some topics are really something that I've never heard before LOL You must be really making something that's totally awesome.

We should! >:3
Do you think a simple language like Toki Pona is likely to help increase immersion in visual novels by making it easier to handle typed-in responses?
Anyway, I've just been looking up various species of false lilies, personality psychology (as in the MBTI), and reactions to stalking.
