- Null Thread -

#1 Post by Kindred87 » Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:52 pm

For the first music resource, I'd like to create a music feedback thread. This thread would be for finished works only (Getting feedback on a WIP in a forum could take a while haha), and this would not only allow a composer to receive advice for future works, but it'd also allow composers to share ideas and techniques that others may not have come across before.

So, why am I posting this thread?

Well I'd like to know if you guys approve of this or have any questions. ^^

P.S. Unless convinced otherwise, I plan on creating the thread this Saturday.

I'm... kind of for it. Although I just have my skepticism it might end up like the "post your music here" thread at tigsource forums, which is ... 72 pages and counting of people posting their own music and once in a blue moon somebody actually listening to what's posted. :p

It could end up like that, as the success of such a resource really depends on the members in the community. Though as I intend to create future music resources collaboratively, I feel that this is a good place to start. Because I for one believe in knowledge that holds various perspectives and wisdoms; which this proposed thread is intended to have. If this thread works as I hope it will, then the composers in this community will grow a wee bit closer together and will be more willing to contribute to resources.

The concept is nice, just gotta make it happen. :] Maybe get yourself some mod capabilities for this forum and that way you can oversee things more efficiently. You know, so some random guy doesn't come in and post 5000 tracks in the same thread but never says a word worth saying?

Yes, I will definitely put effort into any resource I create.

But I would never want to be a Moderator, even if I was offered the position. I do not like having power over people, and there are no exceptions to that belief. Whenever I lead, I do so with the tools of persuasion, discussion, and collaboration. There are cases where I have to sack a teammate, or tell a creator to redo a work because it didn't pass the specified quality bar, but I don't consider that power, because it's part of the collaboration.

Anyhow, the thread wouldn't necessarily suffer in your example. Because even if someone posts 10,000,000 songs and doesn't provide so much as an astrik in feedback, there are still others that could provide feedback, and knowledge would still be shared. Just like there could be people who only provide feedback, there could be people who only supply their music. A one-sided relationship can work, so long as there's someone else to fill the gap.
