Tricks of Foley Art
Anyone here practice Foley Art (the art of creating sound effects with items not necessarily associated with the effect)? I would like to hear if you know any tips/tricks to creating various sound effects that sound realistic. Not technical specs like microphones, but how you make the sounds.
One example was used in one of my favorite games of all time, Myst. In the Stoneship age, which takes place partially underwater, you hear a bubbling sound that echoes. Turns out, the game's foley artist blew through a straw into the toilet to create the sound we heard.
Do you know any cool tricks? I'd like to create a guide, so if you list something, I'll put it up in this post with your name.
Edit: Well, there's quite the comprehensive guide in wiki format here which is pretty cool. Thanks, Ryouko!

The best reason to get up in the morning is to outdo yourself: to do it better than you've ever done it before. But if you haven't done it better by nightfall... look at your globe and pick a spot: it's always morning somewhere.

The wiki.renai listed >this site< - quite impressed me. *_*
I normally don't do this though. =o
Only thing I ever did was heart beating, softly knocked the table rhythmically.
Wind sound is also easy with blowing but you already know that. :'D

Re: Tricks of Foley Art
I know you can create the sound of wings flapping with an umbrella, but that's about all.

Not a foley artist, but I love the metal slinkey lazer gun trick
(All projects currently on a hiatus of sorts. I blame life.)

Not really checking the forums any more due to time constraints, so if you want to contact me, PM. I'll get a notification and log in.
Also, I've been hit and run posting, which means I don't see many replies. If you want to respond to something I've said, also feel free to PM me.
NOTE: if you've got questions about vnovel or things like that, it's Leon that you should be contacting. Leon's been pretty much handling everything, but due to various reasons, I've had to withdraw entirely.

Re: Tricks of Foley Art
I don't know much about the art, but I work in a factory where we wrap pallets of stacked boxes with big rolls of plastic wrap, circling over and over, and I am telling you, it sounds JUST like something out of a science fiction space warp scene. Something about the tension of the plastic separating and being stretched - maybe it could be replicated with a smaller roll.
