SAE Tileset Contest

This is where all the old Lemma Soft-specific posts are (i.e. Tales of Lemma 1, Shoujo Attack!, and some Hanafuda Club). They are here for old times sake ^^

SAE Tileset Contest

#1 Post by Blue Lemma »

With the release of Shoujo Attack! Editor, users can make their own tilesets for use in levels. If you have the time and skills, please send in some cool tilesets and they might be included as part of the program's distribution in future versions. Credit will be given to the artists. Also, if you submit a super-cool tileset, you might win a prize:

SAE Tileset Contest Prizes:
---------------------------------

Level A prizes:
* Super Mario Bros. (for GBA)
* Donkey Kong (for GBA)
* Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Dark Saga (or something like that, for Game Boy Color)
* The One I Love graphic novel (by CLAMP)
* GTO vol. 1 graphic novel
* Galaxy Angel Party vol. 1 graphic novel
* Guardian Angel Getten trading cards

Level B prizes:
* Final Fantasy Unlimited trading cards
* You're Under Arrest! trading cards
* Mutsumi Inomata illustration trading cards (List of works she's done here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=2586 )
* Trouballs (puzzle game for Game Boy Color)

All prizes are brand-new! The trading cards are imported from Japan.

The first place winner will get to choose one level A prize and one level B prize. The second place winner will get to choose one level A prize. The third place winner will get to choose one level B prize. Prizes are limited in quantity, so the first place winner will get to choose first, followed by the second and third place winners.

Rules:
By submitting a tileset, you agree to let it become part of the Shoujo Attack! Editor distribution and to let it be used by people for Shoujo Attack! levels. You will receive credit in the SAE distribution for your tileset(s). Unlimited tilesets may be submitted. Judging will be done by Blue Lemma and some other people. Tilesets should be made using the template provided with SAE.

Also, if you've made any cool levels you'd like to share, please send those as well! You can also post stuff online and Lemma will take the time to go download them (she's had some free time on her hands lately, so she doesn't mind  )

Neat! I've always wanted to do pixel work. I guess this is a good a motivation as any. =)

Btw, when does the contest end? Is there any specific tile size we have to adhere to? Can we have it at any file format?

I don't know when the contest will end yet... probably in a few weeks. As for format, Windows BMP is good. I don't remember the exact size, but if you use the template in the tilesets directory of SAE, it will work out fine 8) Just don't change the size. Also, keep in mind that bright magenta (RGB 255, 0, 255) is transparent. The last five columns (I think it's five columns - from the steel block on) are the indestructable terrain for the map. The rest is destructable.

I hope I get a few submissions ^__^

Nope, use only your own original tile art - otherwise I won't be able to distribute it
