This happens on too many games so I don't think it's game specific...
There have been times I'll go go play a game - GSK, for example - and there isn't any music at all...but when I "click" I can hear it so I know that the volume is OK. When I reboot, the game is fine. Why is it that occasionally there is no music? It's happened on a lot of games and I'd LOVE to know if there is a way to fix it other than rebooting the computer...
Any help would be greatly appreciated =)

A friend is one that walks in when the world walks out.
could be the synth volume control is being altered. You can keep the mixer (in windows double-click on the volume control 'assuming you are using the one that comes with windows')
open and watch it to see if changes when it's used by a new app. On reboot it is probably getting reset. The midi file should have a different volume control from the wav file played on mouse click.
