This sounds cute, but while the combat system you described could technically be turned based and strategy, the phrase turn based strategy makes me think of a game system more like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, Fire Emblem, or Battle for Wesnoth, which is different from the pokemon based combat system you say you're going to use in the discription, This could just be me, but I think you should tag this game as an RPG rather than a turn based strategy.

I was wondering about that tag. You also take over territories and have to decide which order to take them over in. Sort of like Risk.
Is there a "Territory Capturing" tag?

I guess that could be turn based strategy then, but I haven't actually played risk.
But even if there isn't a territory capturing tag, there's no rule against inventing one. RPG/Territory Capturing does seem accurate.

I love the premise, and the idea of a Risk-type game sounds fantastic. Looking forward to this! Good luck with all the coding. @_@

Susan, you have my complete interest. I am soooooo ready to build my cat cred.
This reminds me vaguely of a game I really, really wanted to make involving cats... but it was a side-scrolling beat 'em up. Messed around with pygame but eventually gave up for lack of dedicated time to practice coding. BUT ONE DAY, I WILL DO IT!

This all seems very exciting... so I'm excited!
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
I think the idea of using cats is very cute. ^^

Not really checking the forums any more due to time constraints, so if you want to contact me, PM. I'll get a notification and log in.
Also, I've been hit and run posting, which means I don't see many replies. If you want to respond to something I've said, also feel free to PM me.
NOTE: if you've got questions about vnovel or things like that, it's Leon that you should be contacting. Leon's been pretty much handling everything, but due to various reasons, I've had to withdraw entirely.

If Risk isn't turn-based strategy, I don't know what is. Pokemon's battle system also fits, it's a very broad genre.
The type of thing Darkmoonfire's talking about are more accurately called either SRPGs or turn-based tactics games, and are a subset of TBS games. Either way, I wouldn't get too hung up on labels.
This game sounds awesome, looking forward to it! Knowing what my cats are like, an all-out kitty war doesn't seem so far-fetched : p

Ah, Turn-Based Tactics. That does seem to describe what I had in mind better. Never heard them called that before though, and every time I hear turn-based strategy it's always referring to a turn-based strategy. I will remember this for the future.
Part of the reason I brought it up in the first place was because I wasn't sure my definition of the word was more specific that it should have been, or if I wasn't aware of some gameplay mechanic or something else. Turns out it was a bit of everything.
So, if you'd rather go with turn-based strategy, it doesn't look like there's a problem. It's not like the tags are actually that big a deal.
I'd probably stick with RPG/Territory Capturing because it seems feels more specific and because I have weird predefined meanings for words, but *shrug*, it doesn't really matter that much.

It would be a catastrophe if you didn't litter this VN with as many puns as pawssible, because I think they'd be purrrfect for such a thing.
