The Forgetful Kiwi [2012] [COMPLETED]

The Forgetful Kiwi consists of short VN stories centered around Kiwi and his friends. Mostly, his best friend Pingu. Of course Kiwi is very forgetful and often times gets lost or forgets to do something.

Also I can't draw, seriously honestly I can't but I'll still do the art for this, so in advance i appologize for my VERY crudley drawn pictures T_T


Characters

Kiwi
Kiwi is very forgetful he lives with his mom and dad. He has a best friend named Pingu.




Pingu
Pingu is Kiwi's best friend and likes playing with Kiwi.




Mrs. Kiwi.
Kiwi's mom, she stays at home and sometimes sends Kiwi out on errands. She usually scolds Kiwi about being so forgetful.




Mr. Kiwi
Kiwi's dad. He works at the office and comes home in the evenings. He likes reading the newspaper, but also worries about Kiwi when he gets lost or forgets things.




That's the main characters really. Other ones will show up usually for a story or so. (like Pingu's parents show up when Pingu invites Kiwi to his birthday party but then Kiwi gets lost)

I'll attempt to do everything myself (except things like music and sfx) I'll do the art and writing. Unless someone wants to be nice and draw kiwis and penguins for me >_> If not I guess you all got to put up with my "a 3 year old draws better" art style haha. Well it's just for nanoremo so why not!

I think I'll try to come up with a few stories and then comply them into one VN by the end of march. Each story won't be very long probably 1-5 mins playtime? And will usually have at least one choice menu.

Are you kidding me? 'Putting up with it' are not the words, it's 'loving it', which you mean, obviously. A cute story with pictures which look like they could be drawn by my own coder? Oh hell I'm following this <3!

It looks very cute! The drawings doesnt bother me at all...Maybe If you want to have the childish style more present, you can buy crayons and scan the drawings(I did that one time and it turned cool! XD)

@ clua - That's a pretty good idea! I don't have a scanner but my boyfriend does, maybe I can borrow his. If not maybe i can just add a crayon effect or something.

update: i finished the first story programing, art, etc...all thats left is i want to add a bit of music to add to the atmosphere.
already kinda started writing out the 2nd story (i wrote it on paper while waiting for my bf to get out of class, I still need to transfer it to computer) so I'll probably have the 2nd story out by the end of this week hopefully. This one will be a bit longer then the 1st one.

I'll post a couple screencaps when I get home.

edit: Oh yeah, one more thing. Anyone interested in being a proofreader for this game? The stories are really short so it's not very demanding. And I wont have many of them, most likely no more then 4. I just need someone to kind of correct my grammar and make sure it makes sense, that sort of thing.

I decided to make the first story I made into a demo. I hope it's ok. I liked chua's idea so i figured out how to do a crayon effect in photoshop. I used that for the BGs and CGs. Everything (except the music) is done by me using Renpy. (there aren't any creds in this demo but there will be in the full version) Let me know what you think, sorry for any grammar errors, I didn't have a proofreader so I had to do the best I could on my own lol.

XD Im downloading the demo! Im glad you find out how to make crayon like on photoshop...My boss from my previous work teach me how to make a drawing look like a traditional media(which it really looked like it was made with pencil for example)But Its sad I cant remember how to do it(I wanted to use that in many projects..orz)

Great, I hope you like it. I corrected a few things like I made the music stop after they go to the store, and I fixed a few spelling/coding errors anyways, the fixed version and 2 other stories will be with the final game. I decided to go with 3 stories, unless I can come up with another and have time for it.

Yeah, I was glad I found the crayon technique its pretty easy. Awww that's too bad you can't rememeber how to do it, maybe you can google it up and find out?

Read through it and my teeth melted. This is so simple but adorable, I was grinning while playing. It's perfect for little kids (I am a little kid too, obviously), good job!

The only thing I noticed were a few typos here and there, so you might want to check the script again for the final version. :)
