The Onigami House [2012] [Mystery/Otome][On Hiatus]

#1 Post by Kitten the Cat »

EDIT: We are really sorry to keep you waiting for this game. Things are just going really slowly, but we do still work on this from time to time. If you want more updates, follow us on Twitter :) Thank you!

Hi there~

This is my first ever post on this forum! ^^

I've always wanted to make a VN and figured that I should bite the bullet with this year's NaNoRenO. And thankfully I have friends who jumped onboard my idea. We started planning the game just last week. And I must say, Ren'Py is definitely addictive!

Onigami
“I’m not afraid to know the truth.”

Kyoko’s father has gone missing and she receives a mysterious letter from the master of the Onigami House, where her father last worked. What secrets will she uncover when she answers the request?

So yeah, I'm really excited about this! At first it was going to be a simple game though, but we ended up trying out different ideas. Now I don't think we'll make the April deadline ^^; Still, I at least want to release the first two chapters on April 1st.

Thanks for reading!!

ShadowBerry: Thank you, I really hope we can, at this point it's looking to be 14 different endings x_x

Bane Reiko: Thank you! It's mostly stock art since we don't have enough time to draw. Most of the time is being used to plan the story, script, and the gameplay. But so far it's been so fun that I'm really glad NaNoRenO exists, it helped me get off my butt and actually start making a VN ^^;

Amazing art and the premise of how you can determine the MC personality by choices is interesting. Can't wait to play it...

I think everyone already has said everything I was going to say. Simply put:

Amazing art.

Beautiful GUI.

Gorgeous character sprites

Hot bishies

And OMG, 14 endings?! 14 ENDINGS?! I'm sooo looking forward to this.

Plus, otome+mystery=win.

Oops. Let me rephrase my comment.
The text is perfect. It is easily readable and looks great.
Heh. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi all

Just wanted to give an update on our progress ^^

So we're definitely going to only release up to the end of Chapter 1 before April 1st. I also got assignments due that week so I've been trying to balance coding with studies/work/life...

Stats so far:

The game contains 578 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 5,569 words,
for an average of 9.6 words per screen.
The game contains 15 menus.

We've also recolored the sprites so that they're not the same as the stock ones :)

That's all for now and hopefully we'll get Chapter 1 done mid-week so I can test, test, test!!

Well I got carried away learning the Ren'Py screen language and modifying the GUI, when I should have been finishing coding Chapter 1... ^^;

New title screen:

So... around 80-90% done with the demo. I feel a bit guilty as I've been neglecting my assignment, but I really want to be able to make the deadline XD
