Fire in the Night
a tale of high adventure, mystery and the great game

Fire in the Night casts the player as Araz, a informant and thief in a corrupt colonial empire. Sent to retrieve a letter from a courier, things quickly become more complicted and Araz is quickly on the run, dodging the secret police and hired thugs. Who can you trust? Who can you save, and who will you throw to the mob?

Gameplay
The game will involve a lot of choice, although we'll concentrate on getting the main critical choices in first, before whipping things up with extra choices. Every person you can talk to can be interacted in with in different ways to attempt to get what you want out of them, but beware of making enemies! The main character is a cynical and world-weary spy whose greatest weapon is his cunning and abilty to lie through his teeth, so the player can always decide to betray anyone if they feel like it!

(Disclaimer: This is not quite a 'real' NaNoRenO entry, some work has already been done on the script and artwork.We're using the opportunity to push heavily on this project.)

Love this idea! I think it's really nifty when story/characterisation influences gameplay like this. Also, the ability to decide other characters' fate sounds exciting.

All in all, this looks great. I'll be looking forward to more progress

Cheers! Work's been killing me this week, and is going to keep up all this week, so off to a slow start, but hopefully with a bit of help, I can put together a nice demo with some real depth! First art update will be this weekend, hopefully with at least two handpainted bgs, and maybe some character sprites for the protagonist!
