16-year-old Orville Kaminski has long accepted that he’s gay—it’s the rejection by his parents that he’s still coming to terms with. But hope is not lost, for one of his friends, Irene Dale, plans to form a Gay-Straight Alliance club to provide GLBTQ students with support, and hopefully make a few straight allies. In this club, Orville befriends a few individuals, each with their own story to tell, and learns there’s more to being gay in the 2010’s than he knew. Will he find friendship? Romance? Something in-between? That is up to you.

Character Descriptions:

Orville Kaminski

"I came out to my parents two weeks ago. They took it as well as you'd expect. Meaning, of course, that they flipped their shit."

The protagonist of our tale. He's been out of the closet for a while, but still has to face various ups and downs in his life—from dealing with his family’s rejection to bubbling feelings rising for some of his club mates.

Irene Dale

"But it’s BECAUSE of jerks like him that this club is necessary! If we can’t give a voice to the gay students of our school, how can we give that same voice to gay students across the country?"

Orville’s best friend, the first person whom he came out to, and the founder of the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance club. Having grown up with two gay fathers, she’s no stranger to ignorance and prejudice, and hopes to improve the lives of her classmates, and best friend, through her club.

Scott Litchfield

"No, no, no, there’s ‘right and wrong’ and then there’s…right and wrong. You get my drift?"

A bisexual teen who grapples with his faith and his sexuality. He joins the club out of the hopes he can find answers to his dilemma.

Cass Mullen

"H-huh? You mean ME?"

Scott's best friend, a young man who recently moved to town. He’s still finding his place amongst his classmates and has a few of his own insecurities to battle (doesn’t everyone?).

Asa Collier

"Aw, c'mon! Relax! We don't bite...much."

A spirited senior whose philosophy is “Live life to the fullest”. Though some are put off by his over-enthusiasm, his blithe spirit is a welcome addition to the club.

James Pomeroy

"Whatsa matter? You gonna be late for your ballet class or somethin'?"

A class bully, who, in exchange for no detention, is being forced to attend every GSA meeting after school for a month. He’s snarly, bigoted, and generally a huge jerk. So what ARE his redeeming qualities? … … … Moving on.

Goal:
With NaNoRenO out of the question, I am still working on this. Progress will just come gradually.

The art looks very nice so far and the premise seems pretty sweet. That logo is excellent by the way XD.

Oh wow the art style's gorgeous. I'm loving the game's general feel, and the premise is interesting, but I'm just gawking at how cute the art is asdfghjkl

The sprites for this are adorable! Such a lovely, warm style, and a sweet thing to write the story about.

The sprites look great! My only regret is there isn't a character with regular (non-sun) glasses. Still, the art style is very cute.

Thanks to everyone who has commented thus far (I did make sure to tell Beerings about the compliments they were getting for their artwork ). Unfortunately, university has gotten in the way, so progress on this will be a bit slow, but it will still be progress. I should also add that this game will be 100% free upon release.

I hopefully wait for the release^^

Progress in script-writing is starting to slowly pick up. The basic writing for the first half of the common route is more or less "done", but I'll still need all the assets (art, music, SFX, etc.) and also comb over the writing and thoroughly make sure it's good. I'm focusing mostly on that part to have enough together for a demo (which I hope to release by the end of this year, maybe beginning of next), but I'm also focusing primarily on Scott's route.
