I got most of the UI done tonight. I haven't done the textbox or Yes/No screen yet, but I got the prefs/save/load done:

If anyone is wondering, the background is created from photos of a cool piece of paper I found at a craft store:

Updated my progress. If anything's going to be unfinished by April 1, it'll be some of the sprites (there are so many), but I'll see if I can finish them. For the most part they are photographed, but there are a lot not fixed up in Photoshop yet.

Now that I've finished my entry I can finally enjoy NaNoRenO before it's over. Your project is very very original. Now a not so very original line: "I can hardly wait to play it"!

Thanks for the votes of confidence! Today I finished another background. Here's a screenshot:

I still have to do the original classroom (which is a rearrangement of those walls and some props). I'm rather proud of the Haruhi clubroom because I crafted most of that myself. It's not absolutely complete, but it's the most compete photo I've made to date. Good enough for the game, anyway.

There are various odds and ends I want to polish up, and there's got to be some typos in there somewhere, but by golly I'm releasing it TODAY! I do plan to release a final version in the near future, though.

Edit: got 'Ideal End' on my first play (was that your hand making a guest appearance on the credits screen?).
The first thing that came to my mind after playing was (beware, my mind is frequently out of control): many times I look at my own work and I think: "Am I writing "too serious" stories, full of existentialist questions, while people may be just looking for some lightweight fun?" Well, you gave me lightweight fun and some profound questions on a single package. After playing, the title of the story, and where it was taken from became much more clear. A quite unique and technically very well executed work. I know it's a sin, but I'm envying you now .

Thanks for your comments! Yes, that was my hand making a guest appearance, lol. It's the photo I took for the title screen before editing out the background. I had a transparent Miku I lit up with an LED, and I did a long exposure so I could move the LED around and get more light.
I really wasn't aiming for the existentialist questions, though they kind of came automatically given the character.

I still need to clean up the Saber sprites, but in the past few days I haven't even wanted to read the word "Nano." Doing this project definitely wore me out! But this week I hope to relax and play some other people's projects, and after that polish this one up.

This is really great! It's super cool to see all this come together, and the script had me lol'ing in a few spots. Also just when I thought I was actually out of the Vocaloid fandom you've got me getting feels again. Time to go translate 50 more songs...
