Yes, you're right on point. You're not playing as any of the characters in the game, but you can affect some of the events. One of the possibilities is the character fighting back and disobeying the player's commands, which is an interesting experiment in a VN medium. We're hard at work in building the story at the moment so we haven't fully explored this feature. Hopefully, it will give an interesting effect. Also, now that you mention horror, the game isn't horror as it is "Gothic". It lacks the "horror" elements found in the usual horror games so we're not sure what genre it is exactly. We might consider changing the genre to "supernatural" instead.
