the backgrounds are amazing! my favorite is the one with that large blue planet and the single bed
I still haven't touched the BG making myself, you inspire me to try drawing some BG again haha
Love the sprites as well, they're simple and cute!
a sibling relationship story too, can't wait to see how it's done, good luck with those BGs!

Aww thank you, it means a lot to me that you like them! (The large blue planet is Earth, except when i tried to draw continents it looked like a mess HAHAHA so I opted without)
I'm glad you're joining me in the struggle against backgrounds. I've been dabbing around in various methods, to varying degrees of non-success. I hope you're having much better luck than me.
>>> Progress:
Just two more backgrounds. I'm getting rather tired of interior room backgrounds, but that's basically 80% of the BGs I need to do. /shiver/
I'm also starting to doubt the idea that I'd be done all the BGs in time for the last week of coding. If worst comes to worst, I'll have to use some creative commons BGs instead.

Hey, you've got to do what you've got to do. Just do what you can by the end of NaNo; don't overwork yourself.

11 backgrounds, JFC O_O
And they're amazing, you're doing an awesome job!
If you need t use CC BGs, that's totally fine! You can always release a "finished" version after NaNo :3

@Haze: Thank you! I've been throwing my free time into nanoreno that I haven't had the time to browse the forums. I just realized you're also doing nanoreno too! Good luck to the two of us. I'll be coming around to say hi!
@Deji: Hahaha, 11 is a lot, isn't it. I'm used to creative writing, which lets the writer conceive as many settings as they like, while VN writing is constrained in that manner. @_@ Thank you so much for your kind compliments ;~; and that's a good tip!
I just hope I'll have the energy/motivation to keep refining after March, haha.
@Auro-Cyanide: Thank you! I saw some of your updated art for The Blind Griffin, and they're amazing. You have a really good handle on perspective, which I admire!
I'm a bit shy to leave comments since it seems dedicated for your team to update each other on your progress, so I didn't want to clutter..
>>>Progress:
- Updated Seven and Thirteen's blurbs. Now that the script is finished, I have a better idea of the kind of characters they are.
- 3 backgrounds done. Really basic since I'm in a time constraint, which is a pity because I would like to do more detailed furniture and rooms.

Finished all the backgrounds!!!!!!!! I've never been happier in my life.
Going to move onto titlescreen assets and start coding.

@Hazel-Bun: Thank you!! It really means a lot ;~;
>>> Progress:
Sparta'd a titlescreen so now I have something pretty upon opening the game.
Tomorrow is the start of week 4, which will be dedicated completely to coding! The FINAL STRETCh

Yay, you finished all the backgrounds! Awesome! And the title screen looks nice; are you going to customize the rest of the GUI?
One more week left! This is the final stretch! Go for it!

@sorani oh gosh, thank you. ;///; night scenes are particularly hard for me to colour, so I'm really happy you like them! I-I hope I don't disappoint
@Haze Thank you! For now, I'm only customizing the GUI I'm familiar with (textboxes, text history, choice) and leaving the rest (save/load preferences) to the 3 days grace period after Week 4 if I still have enough time to get around to it.
>>> Progress:
Lots done today.
- Added Load to the main menu. That'll teach me for working until 3am.
- Added light to Zero and Eight's sleep sprites. The dead-fish look was meant to be part of the story but now it's far too creepy for me to work with Eight.
- Worked on housekeeping duties (entering all library assets, setting up options, adding codes for use, etc.)
- Worked on a lot of GUI today!
Textbox art:
Text History window:
Choice menus:
Will be leaving GUI alone for now till I'm done entering all the script in (and if I have enough time to work on more GUI stuff...)

Finally gathered up enough internet courage to comment. (Ahaha) And just realized that you also soloed. =o Hope you can finish coding everything in on time!
And your backgrounds are looking GREAT. It's all about that perspective (and horizon line of course) and making sure the characters don't appear too tall/too short in them. (And boy does he look tall.) There was a tutorial regarding height in contrast to characters but it's nothing to worry about. (Nano is all about pushing your limits! According to me anyway)
I shall have this at the top of my play/read list!

@Sunlit-Dreamer oh, I understand completely. I'm far too shy to comment on threads too, so I simply lurk in the shadows and cheer them on quietly. Soloing is tough, isn't it? @_@ there's not enough time for, well, anything.
Thanks for the constructive crit!! I just realized he is quite tall in the hallways due to the height of the doors. Shows I have a long way to go still when drawing backgrounds.

I will have to cut him down to size.
Oh, I certainly feel pushed to my limits.

In a good pain sort of way. I hope that didn't sound too maso (we probably are for taking on this challenge alone).
(no progress reports, whoops)

Yup, it definitely is. And it just makes all of us who soloed just feel even more accomplished when we finish. Huzzah!
Anyway, there is an easy, but kinda lazy way to fix the height problem. Basically resizing his sprite. However, the quality will probably be different among other things. You can leave him as is though and pretend that she has a really tall brother. XF
I also decided to post a VERY useful link that way you can look at it in the future, considering how well you made your bgs. (You should continue to make them in the future. Not many people can pull off really nice looking bgs.)

You most likely don't need it NOW since you finished them, but this tutorial will ALWAYS be useful for bg, cg, and sprite artists. =3
