I agree, I love the dynamic poses you have, and make it more underwatery. And good luck with the GUI/background designs, it's nice to have a small project to stretch out your abilities and try something different or new. =)

there is a reason why my username is uminee– i LOVE most anything that has to do with the ocean (you might already know this but umi is japanese for ocean)! i watched the Little Mermaid growing up too, so i think it's refreshing to have a reversal of roles with a human MC and merman love interest.

oh my same here! i have never drawn much except traditional art so the digital stuff is really new to me. i am glad you decided to do them, both your sprites and GUI look amazing! ^^

Thank you so much for all your kind words! It's really nice to hear that people like the art I'm doing, as I was slightly worried about it not being anime-style. But still, it's great fun to really start getting on to making my own VN!

Progress update- Finished Walton's sprite!

I'm so close to finishing with the sprites, I just have a couple of extra characters to do and am hoping to get those finished tomorrow. Didn't get to work on this as much as I wanted over the weekend, but still managed to cram some time in

It's great to see more merpeople games! I really like the modern fantasy angle, as well as Quinn's pretty floaty hair, and the story sounds like it will be a lot of fun. <3 Good luck finishing everything by the end of the month.

I love the style here (I especially like the way you draw noses!) and floating hair, of course, is a plus. xD I'm looking forward to this one.

Progress Update: Sprites are now complete! Woohoo!

Also made the decision that I need to stop making things quite so detailed or I am not going to finish the art on schedule

Started on CGs and backgrounds today. Backgrounds are new for me, and it's been quite the... interesting experience learning perspective and also colouring objects and textures. But then, that is part of the reson I wanted to try out a visual novel, so as it would force me to expand out of my comfort zones!

Here is the artefact (the design of it was a bit of a struggle and it went from over the top idol to simpler shell. I personally like the shell best, it suits the merfolk's peaceful society).
And my first attempt at a background- Underwater ruins.

Thank you so much! I wanted the characters to all have a very individual look, including colour palette and build. Hope it works out as I plan!

Progress update: I really need practice on backgrounds! But, at least I am attempting them, right? I won't improve unless I start somewhere, and they are gradually getting done and hopefully won't make people's eyes bleed too much

Also managed to finish some CGs- I couldn't do as much as I wanted to some of them, due to time, but it's still so exciting to see the characters and story coming to life.

My schedule is to have the art finished by Monday, and I think I might hit that target!

Sorry, no art to show this time, the CGs I've done so far are quite spoilerific (is that really a word?) to the plot!

Progress Update: I did it! I finished all the art on time

Well, all the essential art anyways. There’s still a ton of extra art I’d like to do, but that will only be if I have time (which is looking rather unlikely!).

I loved what clua did to show off a collage of their art on their WIP thread for Charlatans, so thought I’d do something similar.
As an update, which I will also add to the top post, here are the stats for the art for Diving in Deep:
The art isn’t as detailed or top-notch as I wished, but at least I got it finished!

Now next week I can begin concentrating on the writing, which is what I have been dying to get started on
