• Big Steps reporting for duty! (*´∀`*) This year, we will be participating in the NaNoRenO challenge and creating a fan-game visual novel based off of the awesome MOBA League of Legends! Our visual novel is called Summoner Sweetheart! A Romantic Hack n’ Slash Adventure. It will be a non-profit game free for anyone to enjoy!

► ALL ABOUT IT ❧❧❧

• At Summoner’s Academy located in the city of Demacia, a cohort of students with one common interest create the high school’s first League of Legends club. The game warps the players inside a virtual reality using a digital headset produced by Rito Games. All is well until an evil self-proclaimed genius hacker thwarts the corporation’s success by infiltrating a highly encrypted glitch into the system! With a countdown of 7 days set by the perpetrator, the distressed CEO puts up a reward of 1 million Rito Points (a currency within the game) to unearth the miscreant in conjunction with sending out the company’s own specialized hacker force. If the villain claims victory, League of Legends will be terminated forever.

► HOW IT WORKS ❧❧❧

• In Summoner Sweetheart, the player will get to choose between being Ezreal or Leona and vie for another champion’s love like Ahri or Jayce! Woo them through your stylish conversational skills and gain love points fighting with them in the dungeon! Beat baddies and pummel minions on your way to love. Follow clues to try to find a way to defeat the hacker and win those sweet sweet Rito Points. Not to mention finding love on the way! ~ (˃͈ દ ˂͈ )
  
  In our visual novel, we want the player to feel that they are also part of the game within the game – gameception (ha ha!) – so we’ve included a side-scrolling pixelated dungeon system where you will get to battle monsters recognizable from League of Legends. The dungeon system is integral to progressing within the visual novel as well as pursuing that perfect guy or gal.

• We are making everything in this game from scratch, so we have a full-fledged 28 member team spread across multiple sections. Some of our awesome players have joined more than one mini-gang, so the numbers do not necessarily reflect unique individuals :: the total members will add up to more than 28 based on the numbers provided.

The artwork looks great, though I must admit I'm more interested in the game world then the school world, especially since I'm a big fan of LoLs design work. What can we expect from the designs for the game side of the story? Will it be more inline with the LoL fantasy world?

@Mashiro-chi: Who can say no to bishies, amirite?! Haha!

@Auro-Cyanide: I completely agree! Riot has done such an amazing job developing the backstory of a lot of the characters and the history of Runeterra; it's simply overwhelming (in a good way, of course!). In terms of the aesthetics, yes! I would definitely say it will resemble more of League of Legends in game. We have 3 dungeons: Summoner's Rift, Twisted Treeline, and Howling Abyss. We'll take certain elements from each map and try to integrate it into our pixel maps with a unique twist. In terms of mechanics, however, it won't be what you'd except in LoL! Super glad to hear that you're excited about the dungeon.


We haven't done a very good job advocating for our dungeon system, so we just posted up some sneak peeks of our pixel galore!
