One late summer night, the young Belladonna Cottonwood walked off into the woods surrounding her tiny village of Shadewood and never returned... Rumors run amok as to what the young girl's fate truly was... Was she kidnapped by the gypsies who were seen lingering at the edge of town? Did a monster maul her to itty bitty pieces to sup upon? Or, did the Witch of Shadewood find another victim? Or, did something worse happen?

Follow Belladonna's journey and uncover the truth behind her final moments in this gothic fairytale... What will your fate be during a night in the woods?

Characters:

Belladonna Cottonwood
A young woman who traveled into the woods only to go missing...

Violet Oakson
A mysterious beauty that Belladonna met in the woods. A friendly stranger? Or something sinister?

Brandon Fir
The son of the town's founder and Belladonna's fiancé. There are rumors a plenty about his jealous nature. Is he the cause of Bella's disappearance?

Eli
A young gypsy boy townsfolk saw watching Belladonna as she shopped the local market. Did he kidnap her?

Went missing one summer's eve like smoke into air.

Into the woods, she walked all alone,
Until she became lost in the trees with no bread crumbs to lead her home.

Every mother and father, every little lad and lass,
Has a different version of how Belladonna passed.

In the forgotten village of Shadewood.

The baker proclaims that Belladonna did die,
Being baked into some nasty witch's pie.

Another feast made of ripe virgin meat,
The Witch of Shadewood's favorite treat!

Whispers spread in the forgotten village of Shadewood.

But Rosa and Posie two twins from down the lane,
Have another story to give them claim to gossip fame.

They claim pretty Bella,
Ran afoul of her fiancé a jealous and fiery fella .

No one dares proclaim this to his face, the Heir of the founder of Shadewood.

The old widow, living in the mill, with a hobbling gait
Knows yet another version of Belladonna's fate.

She whispers, the young girl's demise is no mystery,
Belladonna was carted away by a roaming band of gypsy!

The people of Shadewood, gossipers one and all.

Is there any truth to their cries? Any at all?

Well weary traveller, listen in and listen good.

Ooooh, Interesting! Timed events + gorey, nice! Will there be at least one good ending or all I can do is try to get the less horrible death??

Ah! I just looked at your game, nice work! I wish I could do NSFW (but what is nude anatomy? OMG) Maybe for one of my bigger projects. ;3

I don't normally go for VNs with only bad/tragic ends, but this is sounding too good to pass up!

Seriously loving the idea for this, and can't wait to see it finished.

Sprites are adorable.

Like Harliqueen up there, I'm normally not interested in tragic games, but I'll give this a shot because art. ♥

Thank you so much! If I have time I might add a nicer ending. But I think I'm going to be a little crunched for time as it is... ^^;

Ooh, I really like Belladonna's design. The frilly skirt is so cute - she kind of reminds me of Reimu from Touhou (maybe all the red?)
And I like the look of Eli - he's really cute.
Actually, all the character designs are super cute >_<

The art is cute and a gothic style game always manages to make me interested. Everyone seems suspicious and I can't wait for the project to be finished in order to play and find out the truth!

They're adorable! On a first impression, I thought the game would use chibis as sprites and I wondered how it would mix with the tragic, gory endings. But then, I saw this:

It's hard to say without knowing how they truly act, but I'll guess Belladonna Cottonwood. She even has a nice name.

As someone who has dabbled in poetry...I love this and strongly encourage it. ♥

I'm fine with that. I do prefer more, but if the story's good enough, it won't be a problem.

Now, quick question: how gory will it be? I'm fine with Higurashi/Umineko-level gore (if you're familiar with either of those) but not Gantz/SAW-level gore.

I've never played Higurashi or Umineko but I've seen both anime. I think that it will be somewhere along those lines. No graphic descriptions of torture or anything like that... there will be some disturbing descriptions but none of the CG will be overly gory.

Spoilers BELOW:

The worst that happens graphic wise probably is that in one ending Belladonna gets torn apart by a wolf that mostly just shows bloody limbs and clothing. On the written side... probably her fate as Brandon's "wife".
