Tadaah!!
Here's my second nano, and I'm willingly doing it solo once more because I must be going out of my mind.

Enough about me. Let's get to the point.

WHAT IS THIS!?

This one's about a high priest serving a monstrous god called Divilethion. Human sacrifices and all that stuff goes on but I swear it's not a doom and gloom type a thing. I guess it's more like a tongue-in-cheek psychological drama? Oh, yeah that makes sense....... Dark comedy maybe? A tragicomedy?? Though it's not a tragedy if you don't land on the bad end. AAAAA.

Anyway the priest is named Lynn...


...and he has a little brother called Marrow.


And Marrow has a stick up his ass about this whole worshipping business. One might wonder how can you be an atheist when the very object of worship lives in the basement of the village's temple. But Marrow is like that, what can you do...

And this is that basement dwelling deity Divilethion.



I have the skeleton of the story ready, as well as most of the ui. Some sprites, 1 background + variations, and then a vague sense of embarrassment.

Stay tuned for more awkward fumbling about, as I stumble my way through another nanoreno!! :DDDD
Everyone was so kind last year I'm in high spirits and daring to be a little hopeful someone will like this one too, even if just a bit!

Though last year's entry didn't feature any blasphemy so there's that...

Oh wow I LOVE the designs for Divilethion so far, such a fun creepy deity! I'm very curious about what its personality is like.

I enjoyed Jack-In-A-Castle a lot last year so I'm really excited to see what you do with this one. :]

I didn't think I'd be remembered, much less recognized later hahah!! What a nice feeling. I can't wait to DISAPPOINT YOU ALL HAHAHAHAHA!!

This year I'm doing a much smaller project. It's more art-heavy, so instead of having multiple small routes and branches, I'm focusing on one bigger route. This also lessens the constant bombardment of choices. I think people got a little exhausted last time.

But anyhow! Things are progressing well. I've made another background, sketched some CGs and then fiddled with some code.




Look at this! I'm dabbling with ATL.

you're really gonna come out here and claim you're gonna disappoint us all? and then post a cool gif of something you made using ATL? which is like beyond my comprehension? the only thing I'm disappointed in is your lack of self-confidence you're doing AMAZING

I'm glad you liked the little animation because I have more incoming!


I won't be animating all CGs, but special ones like this will have a bit of extra flair.


I've also finished one supporting character: High Priestess Aenon. Lynn's co-worker.

She got a total of seven expressions.

Other than that I've been writing the script. I'm on schedule so far, but shocked it's been a week already. Like hot damn that went by fast...

That CG is so cool! I can't stop looking at it. I love the animations so far.

Updates.

I've been working hard on this novel, and at last it feels like things are getting done.

What I've finished so far:
- all character sprites (if time allows, i'll add more for some background characters, but if not: no matter)
- most of the necessary CGs (but again, if I have time, I have several more I'd like to make)
- purchased license for the music I want to use. I still haven't chosen what goes where exactly.
- I've written the story script almost completely. The "bad" ending is still unwritten, but I doubt it takes longer than a day. It's just a few more scenes.



- UI is ready AND THE BUTTONS LOOK LIKE [retracted]. But! I'll leave them as they are. I think the sloppiness of it fits well with my aesthetic for the game. It's supposed to be a little childish.



I also thought I had done all the backgrounds but turns out I overlooked two. Both are easy ones though (lots of foliage) so it's no biggie.


What remains undone:
- Audio design (as mentioned)
- Some CGs from which few are complicated
- itchio page assets
- hide show hide show with dissolve hide with fade show at left right center hide with dissolve show the character sprites in code
- those 2 backgrounds I missed
- perhaps something else I am overlooking right now


I wish I could show something exciting but everything is either spoilers or kinda ehhhhh.
Like here's where Lynn and Marrow live.

Anyhow! Things are going well!!

I like the buttons! The START! is super cute, the exclamation point adds personality to your game from the very first screen.

Wow, all the art looks great! Can't wait to play this!
