Ren'Py Dictionary (Community Project)

#1 Post by Luxliev » Sat May 09, 2015 4:22 pm

I've been away from forum for quite a while learning basics of python. Now that I've learned a little I'd like to contribute something to rest of the community.

Standalone .exe project - Ren'py Dictionary

Image

Currently there are only 23 entries but I'll add more when I'll have time.

I'll welcome any help from the rest of you (Example entry shows how they are built please make them in the same way, everyone who will contribute will be added to Credits entry) whenever you want to add newline use /n you can see preview of your entry here:

You can use <br> as well it won't be problem to replace everything to /n later. Please makes entries as short and easy to understand as possible.

Binds & tips:
Enter is bound to search key so the quickest way to find something is pressing tab typing down your query and pressing enter.
Entries are not case sensitive so you can type everything in lowercase (who thought that I'll find use for .lower after all)

Can you explain what it does, exactly? It isn't clear to me.

This is created mostly for new users, people that started making stuff in Ren'py or coding in general. This dictionary is like journal. I made something similiar when I was learning python (last version has 100 entries). Sure I have everything available online but documentation can be too huge to process for new users (I know it was for me). It's also much quicker than opening your browser typing down query you're looking for, then opening it in new tab and finding it with ctrl+f. Python documentation often gives a lot of answers that are not related with your query that only makes you more confused instead . I struggled a lot with finding answers for most basic questions at start.

I'm almost only in question forum section so probably I'll try to make answers for most common questions in this dictionary as well.
