Modular Backgrounds (CC BY-NC 3.0)
These images are meant to be layered together so you can make the background you need. Ground layers like the sand, ocean and snow are full screen so you can put the horizon where you want. If you do, layer the horizon.png over it to make an atmospheric haze. I'll be adding to this as I get more pieces done, and eventually a psd and zip for easy downloading.

Here are some examples of how these can be used.

Really? Thank you! I'm really new at making backgrounds, I usually do characters and pixels. I wasn't sure if it was any good at all, or even useful.
Re: Modular Backgrounds (CC BY-NC 3.0)
I agree, these really are fantastic . Kind of hard to imagine that you're still new at this. Now if only there was one of a forest....
Nothing to see here, folks. For now, anyway...

Thank you! I'll work on trees and grass next. I've wanted to do great backgrounds for a while, but instead of practicing I did a lot of studying real life images, how my favorite pictures were done, and reading lots of tutorials. It seems to be paying off, though I don't think I could have pulled it off if I didn't have so much experience with other types of art.

Sorry, still haven't gotten anywhere satisfactory with trees yet. I do have a moon though.

The moon reminds me of Sailormoon. The difference between Sailormoon's moon and yours is the color tone and some spots on it. Your work is impressive despite of your status as a beginner.

Funny that it looks like the way the moon looks in Sailor Moon. The only reference I used was a real picture of the moon. Thank you for commenting, although I'm liking the results, I definitely feel every bit the beginner. I need the positive feedback!

You want to specialize your talent into nature, Sharm? Just want to ask.

Nature stuff is just a lot easier for me. I'm still learning Sketchup and building stuff for my own VN project. When I'm further along with this I would like to add some outdoor views of buildings. The only way I can think of to have a modular indoors would be to have a square room with a set perspective. I suppose I could try that on request.

These are really beautiful, the best think about these is that they can either be merged together, or left as they are.

I'm not resting until I find
What would make your eyes
Glisten like mine
With loves divine!
Boo-Boo I couldn't aspire....to anything...
Higher...than to fill that one desire to make it
My own....Bop-Bop-a-Dop-Boop-Oop-a-Doop honey?
