More of a rant to keep my sanity together...

I'm beginning to understand why a Full Detailed 3D version of Philippine Jeepney is so scarce... it's just plain hard to make them, even harder if only using Vanilla Sketchup 8. Unlike cars... No two jeep are alike, resources like drawings and schematics are non-existent... no wonder they are so freaking expensive on Turbo Squid...





I am so gonna address this problem really soon though... preview...

Almost done... almost DONE!... all that is missing is the steering wheel, gear stick, gauges, obligatory trash bin, boundary box and a few more things I don't know what it's called...

Model Notes:
Philippine Jeepney with Justin Bieber theme. This model is only an approximation. It's not meant to be an accurate representation of a Philippine Jeepney (though it's close). Primarily meant as props or scene filler and to see if I can successfully model a Philippine Jeepney using only images from Google. Use it for whatever purpose it may serve best. Modification is A-OK and highly encouraged.

Brief Description:
The Filipino jeepney is a contraption of materials classified as junk by other countries.

A typical jeepney, for example, contains these mixed components:

- engine from Isuzu,
- transmission from Mitsubishi,
- brakes from Toyota
- steering wheel from Hyundai,
- differentials from Nissan

Materials for building a jeepney are sourced from so-called "surplus" shops. These shops import second-hand or junk vehicles mostly from Japan and Korea, and sell the dismembered parts for jeepney assemblies.

Filipino jeepneys are not built on rules:

- They do not follow automotive safety standards.
- There are no standards in build quality.
- There are no design plans.
- They are built based on builder's experience.
- a "Jeepney engineer", as opposed to a true automotive engineer, can be anyone. Can be a backyard mechanic, a welder, a tinsmith, or a combination of them.

Public safey is never an issue for both jeepney and driver. There are no safety tests, no safety certificates, no driver training. Newly-built jeepneys are considered as "road-worthy", jeepneys get legal license plates even if built by backyard mechanics, and can be used as public transport.

The unique thing about jeepneys is that no jeepney is exactly the same as another." As mentioned previously, that's because there are no design rules to build a jeepney. Only 1 simple rule: If it fits, its good enough to use.

during a visit to the capital once, I have noticed the jeepneys are barely decorated... and a majority, if not a good percentage sporting silver paint jobs. In contrast, jeepneys here in CDO are extravagantly PIMPED. :v

It all started with a simple request of a shot inside a Jeepney and now it ballooned into a quest to create the ultimate FREE detailed Jeepney Model in 3D... and thus we ended up with the BIEBER FEVER machine...

While it serves it's purpose and externally, it looked like a Philippine Jeepney, this model is made using only rough approximation using goggled images and "A LOT" of guess work especially on the front side interior of the drivers seat...

So we asked for help on this thread and someone responded to my call...

And soon enough I began revising and modifying the model based on this new info I acquired and ended up with not one but two new jeepney models... both are which heavily modified versions of the original Jeepney Body which we would affectionately call BIEBER FEVER MACHINE because it's more fun this way... #YOLO #SWAG...

But still... despite this new info, I cannot sleep at night knowing this is still an approximation and guess work at best... I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and leave my comfort zone and get out there...

Long story short, I made 6 Jeepney trips with no destination in mind where I ended up in to various locations to get a feel of the Philippine Jeepney interior while taking key photos and video footage using a cheap potato video cam (since mugging is a very real threat in the Philippines, might as well play safe and bring something that I can emotionally afford to lose in case I did get mugged). I took about 460 shots and 15 video footage totaling more than an hour ranging from casual snapshots to close-up detailed shots... Here are the select few. (they are so kind enough to let me go get up close and take some really nice reference photos)


This steering wheel base has seen a lot of things in it's life...


Apparently, this is supposed to be a wiper motor


I have ZERO idea what the three toggle switch in the middle does...

See that thing poking out at the end of the handlebar?... I tell you that thing is an accident waiting to happen...

Not only this little adventure of mine is uncomfortable, hot and humid... I also have to deal with sleeping people like this...


Unfortunately, I will be going to Cebu on a Business Trip and attend a conference but if you could give me a few more days (or at least until) I get back... I will give you a rendered image of your dreams (with transparency so you can also put your own BG's) but wait there's more... I'm currently doing a totally new model base on the photos and videos I took during my little trip... I can tell you it will be more glorious that the previous two/three models now posted on 3D warehouse... this way, everyone can also make their own Philippine Jeepney backgrounds using the Uncle Mugen Background tutorial... (check my signature below)


The interiors are totally reworked from scratch to reflect the new data we acquired.
