SusanTheCat's Art Work page [backround requests open]

I've been practicing using Vue Pioneer + FotoSketcher to make outdoor backgrounds:

To get more practice, I would like suggestions of backgrounds you would like me to make.

Keep in mind:
- outdoor scenes only
- natural settings are better since I don't have too many building models (yet)
- backgrounds will be max 800x600 (unless you want to pay me)
- all backgrounds will be Creative Commons
- I get to pick what I work on

I got the "Fairy Tale" model pack so have whimsical castle models. :) I also bought a small pack of western buildings.

My goal is one new background every 2 days.

Here is the lake. Some of the renders worked better than otheiants.
lake_paintings_combined.jpg
lake_renders.zip has the 3d renders.
lake_paint.zip has the "paintified" versions (I think they look better.)

Comments are welcome. Which one is your favourite? Which one do you think didn't work. Should I post the images up individually?

i personally like the night scene the most - with the exception that the moon looks too white and slightly not round
but hey~ i've been looking for a jetty scene for an idea sketch so this really helps =] <--whether i actually draw a bg is another issue OTL
good luck with u bg renders =D

Here is the church collection.
church_collection.jpg
I am in love with the moonlight one. This time I got the actual moon:
church_full_moon.jpg
I made the church by hand using basic objects. It currently doesn't have a door or any windows since I knew I was rendering it from the rooftop. :)

The church_renders are the pure 3d renders. The church_paint are the ones redone in Foto Sketcher. (Which is totally free BTW http://www.fotosketcher.com/)

I think I am going to try this one again. I kept having trouble with the mountains at night. I think I am going to try something different with them next time.

Did you know it was hard to create a crumbling wall using just primitives? I decided to go with the "overgrown" castle look.

Hmm... an urban church, but a very old one that has been abandoned, preferably. :) With a huge crucifix still on it. It should be a flat roof, such that people can stand on it. Thanks!

New version of the Church. Did I mention that I don't have many buildings?

I used the tower from the castle and changed the wall material and the trim to black. All the other parts of the buildings were made by me.
urban_church_comp.jpg
I also added another set of images that use the water-painting filter. They are the painting 2 set.
urban_church_clouds.jpg
I also tried something different, putting a blur on objects farther from the camera when rendering:
harbour_blurry.jpg
Does it work or just look amateurish?

The blur actually bothers me. I think it looks better without it.

I enjoy looking at the Bgs that you post! Very interesting lighting variances. Keep up the good work.
