I was inspired while waiting for my husband. The city's water tower was just visible over the winter trees.

More backgrounds!
Hill with a tree and a bench that overlooks a mountain village.
Let me know if you need a variation of something I've already created. (e.g. A night scene, a scene with snow, scary green sky.)

Hey Susan, still open ?
What about the interior of a closed futuristic scientific room with a lot of machines, and almost full of darkness, with little light ? Thanks in advance if you can.

Re: SusanTheCat's Art Work page [requests open][question]
Sorry - I tried doing this and my computer ate the first file so I can't even open it, and the second attempt crashed my computer.TheGuraGuraMan wrote:Hey Susan, still open ?

In the meantime, I was trying different methods of creating backgrounds in SketchUp and made the four following:
1) Hand "flattened" from SketchUp line art
2) Rendered using Mugenjohncel's method
3) Hand painted from line art
4) Fotosketcher-ed version of render
Which version do you like the best with the sprite?
(Yes, I know the camera moved between the 2D and rendered versions of the image)

Definitely the bottom left. With the colours, style and amount of shading just meshes really well with the style of that sprite.
Nice backgrounds! I want to try making some now.

I keep flip flopping between that one and the bottom right one.Duskylli wrote:Definitely the bottom left. With the colours, style and amount of shading just meshes really well with the style of that sprite.
Here is another free background: Parking garage done in SketchUp for the lines and PaintTool Sai for the painting. Free to use/modify.

Are you still open for background request? If so, can I have a forest BG?
You make motivated to try to draw more complex BGs.

I prefer the bottom right version although the bottom left gels better overall but i'm a sucker for some nice rendering.1) Hand "flattened" from SketchUp line art
2) Rendered using Mugenjohncel's method
3) Hand painted from line art
4) Fotosketcher-ed version of render

Goofing around with SketchUp, Gimp, and MyPaint:

I just realize I forgot to upload this one:
This was done with SketchUp, Gimp, and Paint Tool Sai

Pizza Guy I did as practice:

Comments/Critiques welcome. Free to use.
Let me know if you are interested in the PSD files of the two backgrounds I painted. Most of the elements are on their own layer, so you can use "Preserve Opacity" and repaint them easily.
