Re: TheGuraGuraMan's art thread - Critiques and requests ope
There was this artist who drew extremely strange drawings with millions of lines that made me feel uncomfortable. I really wish I could show it to you, but I don't remember his name at the moment. If I ever find him again, I'll definitely show you, since it seems like something you might be interested in! (Based on your most recent drawing, haha.)
(I know you said this was an old drawing, but:)
I don't really know how to critique this, but I would suggest making it asymmetrical. That would definitely make it look more disturbing, in my opinion.
Also, having some sort of pattern/something at the very bottom of the page would be interesting too! So that you could frame the face, maybe?
In terms of shading, it needs some more contrast, to make it more dimensional? Having the "background" be much more darker would pull out the figure a lot more.

Hello guys, here are some stuffs :
- Felt like quickly re-drawing some old drawings I made like 8 months ago to compare my skills :
And some doodles :
Choco : well, it's not like it's THAT old anyway. Didn't try to make it asymmetrical, but I'll certainly make ones like that later.
And you think there isn't enough contrast ? The whole thing or just a part of it ?

Tips on the eyes, which hopefully will be helpful:
- Something I like to do is add a sort of bar to the sphere to help me determine how slanted the eyes are, as well as the direction of the eye.
- A section of the eyelid tends to go upward when the pupil is in that area.
- I always saw the pupil as a sort of cut in the sphere. A much more exaggerated example is a cat's eye.
I'm still not too great at drawing eyes, but hopefully this helps too. '3'
As for the contrast thing, uhh, the whole thing, I suppose. If you select the darkest shade on the face/subject, it only goes to about a quarter down the black/white scale. I'm not sure if this should still qualify since it's stylized, but eh, just my two cents.
Keep up the drawin' and studyin'!

chocojax : well, that's also how I make eyes, tough I didn't think about adding a bar, I'll try that, thanks.
Besides that, some stuffs :
- Another two quick "remakes", not really useful but I gotta admit it's quite fun :
And something a lil' bigger, a bunch of OC from a one of my stories I wanted to redraw in group :
