How do you choose the colors? Random picking or do you have some rule (looking at the complementary color, trying everything until itworks, etc)?

Don't worry about the dress, she changes her clothes quite often (I may even use the dress you've done if you don't mind it's so beautiful!)

erm... no problem! [tho I really don't know if I really give a good advice but picking colors is really depend on a person since some artist prefer dull/bright/random/etc. So my advice is choose the colors that makes you feel happy/complete/perfect because that's what I do X)]
