Hi all! I'm working on a series of character concepts/sprites based on saints' relics and reliquaries, and I wanted to show them off here. I think eventually I want to make some kind of fantasy/horror game with them.
Here's the first in the series.

I really like the concept! Such a cool idea.
I personally like the first pose more; the skull draws the eye, and without the hand to lead the viewer lower, the body doesn't attract any attention at all, and might as well not be there.

Thanks for the feedback! I like the first pose more as well. Since I hope to use her as a sprite at some point, I wanted to have at last one alternate arm gesture to show that she can move around and isn't just a statue. I think my challenge moving forward with her is that facial expressions are kind of out of the question. I'll probably need to do more arm gestures.

Wow, this is some high level art! I love it!! (I also love religion related illustration, so it's a win-win to me!)
I also preffer the first pose, even when making neutral poses, there has to be some character in the pose. If you think about alternate poses, you may want to consider lots of torso and head movements, body language has a huge potential!
I'm looking forward to the result of that WIP, I'll definetely follow your art!

Very nice work! Do we get to see the person behind the mask?

Thanks!
Do you mean Magdalene? Magdalene is a consciousness inside a skull that's housed in a gold and glass body.

That sounds like my kind of lady. Such a complexing being has been described, I almost find myself quivering with anticipation.
I must meet her!

Oh.. You mean it literally.

Seriously nice work. As truefaiterman mentioned, the use of religious themes is a very nice touch. I am liking what I see, can't wait for you to show more work.

Old and new, whatever you want. All is here.

@Malyce and JumpJump
Haha, thanks so much!
I have a couple more characters planned for this series. Next up is Veronika - if you're familiar with the "Veil of Veronica", you can probably guess where I'll be going with that one.
