#1 Post by Nekonomicon » Sun Jul 24, 2016 1:26 am

Hi everyone!
I plan to dump a few of my pictures here :3 I'd love to have any feedback and criticism, as honest as possible! That's the best way to improve :D

Anyway...I'll attach a few things to start with.

Holy bananaballs, YOUR ART IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!
No kidding, I'm already obsessed with it and can't wait to see you work on some projects :) Like, I'm already bookmarking this page because it's *so* good!

I'm already mentally hoping you'll work with me on some games soon or, better yet, *cough* join my game dev team *cough* but that's all wishful thinking, isn't it? Hehe.....

Wow, thank you both so much!
But there's still so much I need to practice...like backgrounds and more complex poses :3 I'll have to get working on some more pictures :D

Wow it's been over a year since I last posted...I didn't do a good job keeping this thread up to date!
After watching Kimi no na wa, I've pretty much been working on backgrounds and animation for the past year >.< Trees especially are hard. I'll post one of my attempts even though it's not exactly a visual novel background, as always any advice is appreciated!

All the focus on other things means I've not done much character art, and honestly I feel I've not made any progress! I'll post what little I have, hopefully someone can help me figure out why the colours don't look right :/

They look really well done!
I'm not sure if you still want feedback on the ones you first posted?
Anyway, feedback on the newest ones. (I'm sorry if I'm unclear or mis-spell words  )
The background one, might be just be me, but I feel like you're trying to put too much detail in it. The thumbnail now looks like it's pixelated.
I like the right side more than the left side. It might helpt to mix a bit of other colour in it, like a brown/orange glow from the sunlight instead of just the lighter green? I think that on the right you used a little bit of a blusish hue and that gives it the deeper feel. (Or that's just my colour resolution, if so I apologize.)
For the sprites:
I'm no good with drawing people myself so... But I feel like their hands appear small, maybe because they're partially hidden? I don't know, but it's... weird to look at. I really like the colouring on the both of them. The one with the weapon, I'm missing the shadow of her coat. The headpiece seems less shiny unlike the other parts, not sure if it's intentionally? Since if I'm guessing correctly the lightsource is on her right side from her. (Sorry if I'm nitpicking...)

Thank you very much! Haha, feedback on old stuff is welcome as well :D
Too much detail? Hmm, it's definitely pixelating, but I kept feeling like there wasn't enough detail >.< But I think you're right, the sunlight needs to be stronger!

Heheee....I see what you mean about the hands, it's probably because they're so hard to draw I made them smaller XD
Yeah it's really obvious now you mention it O.o As for the one with the weapon, it does need some more contrast on the coat :3 I wanted the coat to be shiny, kinda like plastic? But it didn't go so well XD
Thank you for your help! ^.^
