Help in choosing sprite hairstyle?

#1 Post by jane_runs_fast »

Hello!

I'm working on making a romance game with Jane Austin characters as playable romantic options- one of my characters is Mr. Darcy- and I'm having trouble choosing a hairstyle for him...

This is a rough sketch and not entirely proportionate- but I wanted to settle on a hairstyle before I put any more work into him.

Any help would be appreciated-

Thank you for your time!

If the setting is the regency era, I'd appreciate time accurate hairdos https://janeaustensworld.wordpress.com/ ... h-century/

The hairdos A and C are extremely similar. D is similar to them, but at least it's visible that the back side is shorter. So I'd choose B, but if you don't like it, D is fine. It also would be nice to have sideburns

Thank you for your help!
I decided to go with d. I did not make this sprite period accurate...mainly because I did not think about it and had started drawing d before I read your post- Looking at your link it looks like i might be able to skimp by with this guy as is- im sure the clothes will help him.

but the next sprites I will actually do research for them. Thanks for the link!

Here is the colored version of him that I have so far- am doing the facial expressions separately....

I always found drawn references easier to understand than photos
