Visual Novel Creator-requires little coding, used on iOS ?

#1 Post by gabgab789 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 12:55 am

Hello Everyone! Thank you for reading this!

I was wondering if there is a visual novel engine/editor/creator that is fairly simple to use with hardly any coding needed(I do not want to have to use complicated code). Also can the code be like close to HTML5 CSS and Java maybe? I don't know which VN engines follow my criteria but I want the code in like HTML5 so that PhoneGap can convert it to an iOS app. Does like "Visual Novelty" fit my criteria? I want to be able to have the user make decisions in game(ie,, tap choice 1, go on this path, tap choice two, go on this path) also if I could configure the home page of the app with like advertisements and a "buy character button", is this possible on any engine?

You might want to look at using Belle http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 57&t=18741
All of my VNs are at http://wolflore.net NOTE: Downloads are now working.
Some are at http://www.the-new-lagoon.com. NSFW
Poorly done hand-drawn art is still poorly done art. Be a Poser (or better yet, use DAZ Studio 3D) - dare to be different.

The thing with Belle is, there are no tutorials and like I don't know what kind of coding it uses and how would I make it like an iOS app?

Would I use PhoneGap to make the game into an iOS app?

I don't know the answer. Questions on Belle's capabilities should probably be posted in the Belle topic.

I created a short demo using Belle and asked people at another forum to test it on several platforms. Results are below (I used ogg format for the sound, I suspect the browsers that would not play sound did not support that format).

Windows 7 Firefox everything worked
Windows 7 Google Chrome everything worked
Windows 7 Internet Explorer 11 plays, but no sound
Update: Windows 7 Opera everything works

Mac Safari plays, but no sound
Mac Firefox everything worked
Mac Chrome (canary) everything worked
Ubuntu 12.04 with Firefox everything worked
Ubuntu with Chromium everything worked

Acer Aspire One running Chromium (open source version of the Google CHrome OS) everything worked

Blackberry Playbook, the scene progression worked okay and the animation played but the browser displayed a message saying the sound format was not supported.

I'd consider using Unity + Dialogue System. That's what I'm planning to do. Haven't done it yet, so I'm not really in a position to make a recommendation, but I thought you might want to know about the option.

Unity3D?

Yes Unity could be used, but there r simplest engines to make VN. Construct (of Scirra), Java Script, RPG maker, etc. is enough.

---------------

EDIT: Construct (of Scirra) make games to mobile, PC, etc., just configure when ur will save file. NO NEED SCRIPT ALGORITHM, JUST CONFIGURE EVENTS

You can try Tyranoscript. It's good for ios, android, pc's etc. as it runs on html5 and javascript I think

Here's the link if you're still interested. There's also a readme and an example game:
