Re: Sandbox Adventure - convert your Ren'Py game to HTML5

Major changes on the website: http://sandbox-adventure.com/

Each game has now its own description page and have tags.

As PyTom adviced it, I didn't had the possibility to rate a game. Instead, users can like a game and write feedback, as long as they are positive and/or constructive.

Sharing the game with your friends is now really easy thanks to new share buttons.
In addition to the Facebook and Twitter pages, there is now a Tumblr: http://ninesquarezone.tumblr.com/

Don't hesitate to follow me on the social media if you want to be kept inform of all new games releases.

As I say on the website: creating games on Sandbox adventure is highly time-consuming and 100% volunteer. What is keeping us going? Having players and nice feedbacks, of course! So, do not hesitate to share the games and leave constructive feedbacks, here or on Sandbox Adventure.

Thank you!

The Mishka Effect is now available on Sandbox Adventure.

It is a time loop comedy adventure with 2 endings and 20,279 words, made by the same team than Fairly Dangerous.
Mishka Florentine's been having a bad week. He's got an eviction notice on his apartment, his friend Veronica Blast won't give him the time of day, his new co-worker's giving him the creeps, and he even narrowly avoided being killed by a bloody stranger. When he finds a shack in the woods that seems to put him back in time by three days, he thinks he can turn all his luck around.

...But things aren't always that simple when you're playing with time.

The One in LOVE is now available on Sandbox Adventure.

It is a short kinetic Sci-Fi novel made for NanoRenO 2014. It is 7,225 words long.
In a distant or not so distant future, an unemployed teacher decides to venture into space to make enough money to save the life of his wife. While he's on a mission to extract minerals from a distant asteroid, the central computer of the spaceship alerts our spaceman that the three gynoid robots on board may have a malfunction and that they can enter at any time in what is called a state of "loss of vital extensions", or LOVE, for short. Of course you know that on stories of this kind things are never what they seemed to be.

This is a short (19 days work, about an hour playing time) graphic (visual) novel telling the story of Rashad, and why he is a man like no other in the whole universe.

All images have been optimized according to this tutorial.

The file size were reduced by 65-75% without any quality loss. As a result, the sprites are now displayed much faster than before, especially on slow connection. :D

This is an awesome project!

Have you ever considered creating a commercial portal for this? Quite a few 18+ VN makers like myself have problems getting their games on iOS, and we get constant inquiries about porting our games to browsers.

Should you ever want to monetize this, and are able to create a way for people to pay and play games via browser, you'd get quite a few customers for your service.

It could be a nice thing to add a donation button like on itch.io but it sounds like a lot of troubles for the actual traffic.

The framework has been made to be used in different projects. It is of course an option to create other portals than Sandbox Adventure and one could be perfectly dedicated to adult games. One specific game could even have it is own website. Of course, it would need further development, but if you know enough game makers that would be interested by creating such a portal, it could be an interesting project.

Diving in Deep is now available on Sandbox Adventure.
When underwater archaeologist, Quinn, discovers an artifact in the ruins she is exploring just offshore, she doesn’t realise the significance of it. At least, not until she comes face to face with the owner of the artifact… who happens to have a tail.

Introduced to the world of the Merpeople, Quinn must keep the exciting discovery quiet in order to protect their secrets, all whilst dealing with new feelings that are stirring towards her merman guide, Merrik.
If that wasn’t difficult enough, she must contend with the persistent interference of a dangerous treasure hunter searching for his next big prize.

And Quinn is all too aware that the Merpeople would be his perfect target.
The game has 6 endings and 19,472 words.

A web version of Witch/Knight is available here: http://sandbox-adventure.com/witch-knight.html
Lady Knight Bethlyn, of the third rank, of the Order of the High King (just Bethlyn is fine) is finally near the end of her journey to bring Elisa back to life. She's finally close to locating the goddess of rebirth.

However, it's not that simple. She has to complete seven tasks if she wants to do so. It may be difficult, but she'll come to find it maybe even harder.

By the end, she'll have to ask herself: who is she really?
The game has 4 endings and 14,869 words.

I wrote a little tutorial about how to make a Ren'Py game fully compatible with Sandbox Adventure.

Most tips can actually be followed on every Ren'Py project, no matter if you want to make it compatible to Sandbox Adventure or not. It is just one way of coding correctly a Ren'Py game. So I would advice anyone to read it ;)

The tutorial is available here: http://sandbox-adventure.com/faq/

Don't hesitate to tell me if you find any mistake.

The Sad Story of Emmeline Burns is available here: http://sandbox-adventure.com/emmeline-burns.html
As the saying goes, dead men tell no tales. They only leave tales behind.

Toma Andrews, aged 14, has always felt like an outsider. She enjoys spending time in graveyards, and feels more comfortable among the dead than the living. That is, until Toma meets a strange girl in her local graveyard who might be a real ghost. The girl asks Toma if she will stay for a while and listen to a story. A story about a girl called Emmeline Burns, who died a tragic death back in 1851.

Toma is compelled to listen, but at the same time, she feels uneasy. After all, what can she do? How could she ever hope to help somebody who has already died?
This kinetic novel has 1 ending and 20,371 words.

I've added a new tip about screen resolution on the tutorial about how to make a Ren'Py game fully compatible with Sandbox Adventure. About 97% of people have a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels or higher. But Ren'Py default screen resolution is 800x600. Why keep using a format that nobody uses anymore? So don't forget to chose a higher widescreen resolution like 1280x720.
