Leafcat is searching for artists and writers!

#1 Post by pixeldesu » Mon Oct 27, 2014 8:46 pm

Hello there, fellow artists/coders/writers on Lemma Soft Forums,

my name is pixeldesu and I'm the leader of a team called Leafcat Coding. As our name tells, we are mainly focused on writing software for everyday use, or whatever you need. But our main principle is coding because it is fun and so we want to start getting into game making again. Again because Leafcat actually was founded for Visual Novel-projects, but those plans vanished quite fast and now, after almost a year (and with more members) we want to try it again, with the help of you!

What we want to make
Back with the first iteration of Leafcat we had two projects in mind:

1. Stardust Path
Stardust Path is the main project Leafcat was founded for back then. It's a visual novel that is renai/dating-focused, with multiple paths, taking place in a futuristic world. What we made up until now is the story starting with childhood friends/couple that is seperated due to a family planetary movement and the journey of the boy finding his girlfriend again.

2. Project Hikikomori
This project is a small idea for a kinetic novel, which will be used to find out how the team can work together, as a sort of practise. The story focuses around a guy who is a shut-in, having a friend that tries different ways to resocialize him.

As you can see, I'm not telling that much right here, because we either haven't made it up as of now or don't want to spoil out everything we thought off by now.

What/Who we need
  • Artists: These are probably the main thing we are missing and that are essential to the making of a Visual Novel. This includes both sprite/character and background artists.
  • Writers: Even thought we already have some people experienced with writing of smaller stories, it always is nice to have people in the team which are really focused on that and can probably help giving input and ideas to the stories.
What we can offer
  • Once we found artist and writers to start work on the projects stated above we will split Leafcat into a Coding and Media team (Coding for the people who want to stay with simple coding and Media for the people who want to work on the games etc.), giving our members a platform to share their ideas/sketches/whatever they have
  • We are a nice and friendly team and always love to welcome new people, also for us it's not about profit or getting really popular with projects, it's about the fun making games together and to create something.
What engine will we use for making our games
For the beginning we will stick with Ren'Py, and we might try out Rave (another Visual Novel engine) once it is production-ready, but that will take some time.

Ways of contacting the team
If you are interested working with us, you can drop me a PM here or mention me or the team on Twitter.

If you have any further questions just ask them, I will answer them as good as I can! Also, if you want to leave any feedback on the ideas or the post, just do so!
