2D artist (Sprite/background) for dark growing-up game
HI! My name is Kevin Lee.
I like art, I like music. But I'm terrible at those things. That's why I'm here.
I'm a cave-dwelling programmer in dire need of dedicated sprite artist/background artist who is willing to work with me to make a parent-I'm-finally-going-to-college game.
This game, The World Below, is a dark 2d puzzle/platform game about a boy (might seem narcissistic but yes, it's me) who goes through the five stages of Kubler-Ross model. The Kubler-Ross stage will represent the death of the boy's innocent and young while growing up in the city full of dangers. There are also other symbols that leads to messages like "don't grow up" and other stuff. Trust me, once you read the Game Design Document (I got that), you'll get what I mean (you'll get that).
Like I said, I need artists, but I need sprite artist the most. So if you're a sprite artist, please contact me!
If you have any question or will like to work with me and several other talented people that over-compensates my un-talented art/music skills, or even just someone to talk to, my email is GearGameProduction@Gmail.com and my Skype is Ithinkitskevin
Or just ask me right here! That's what the guy below suggested, and I'm fine with that.
P.S.
I like doing this thing where I stay up 24 hours and work/answer every question you have since there are people all around the world with different time zone. So for example, this February 14-15, I'll be answering all the questions while working on this game with other all-nighter people. Am I crazy? Nope. Just a teenager.
P.S.S.
This for me is very important, and I am VERY serious/dedicated to this. BUT that doesn't mean we can't joke around. I dislike having that "business" feeling to this, in fact, this is exactly what the main point of this game is about, to not grow up and to not lose your innocence. All I want from you is... just to be dedicated. I had so many great artists just walk out from this game since it's unpaid, and its just depressing as hell. So yeah... Just saying... bleep bloop I'm outta here.

Re: 2D artist (Sprite/background) for dark growing-up game
The style of the sprite art is black with small greyish outline on them while the background art is dark/brooding watercolor, like the main menu.Fluffywuffykins wrote:Is there a particular style of art you are looking for? About how many characters are going to need a sprite?
The sprites... There are many sprites that'll be here (although I need the boy's sprite as soon as possible), and I'll need them in a Sprite Sheet (.PNG style)
First is the boy/mom holding hands
-walking
Second is the boy (young/middle/old)
-running
-jumping
-climbing
-idle
But right now, like I mentioned, I just need the young boy's sprite.

Re: 2D artist (Sprite/background) for dark growing-up game
Hey, I thought I'd let you know that on this forum people generally create story-based games rather than things like platformers and puzzle games. So, most of the time when someone says that they need 'sprites' they are referring to a static image that has variations just in the facial expression. This type of thing;

But, it seems like you need sprites that are used to make a character run around and such. So, if that's true, I think it'd be helpful if you mentioned that you need those types of sprites in the first post just in case. That way a misunderstanding won't happen.
Good luck :>.
