Daddy said not to tell, but you seem ok. “ She leans in conspiratorially, whispering in the way that isn’t actually whispering as 6 year olds do. “Daddy told me that if I was good, he would show me the basement. I’ve never seen the basement, but he says there’s something down there I will like.” She giggles, then fades out.
Zoe: (Age 7)
"Let’s play hide and seek."
"You look for us first."
“I’m Zoe, Allie went down last week, I saw her. She was so happy, but… she never came back. Daddy said she was still playing downstairs, but that we couldn’t go down and play with her. I thought it was strange… but…” *Her face, previously puckered in an expression of confusion, now brightened. “He said he would take me down to see her tonight, after mommy goes to sleep.” She smiles, then fades.
Abby: (age 5)
“I’m Abby! Daddy said not to talk to strangers, but I think you might be ok. Mommy went away last night, and daddy seemed really sad. I miss her, can you take me to her?”
