Good day! This is a casting call for a visual novel. I am looking for voice actors interested in working on an original project that is not for sale. This is a large cast of five female and five male roles with a few extra npc lines that I expect the current cast to voice. The casting is only for the demo, but actors are welcome to volunteer for the full-game as well.
The demo is set to come out mid-July. The casting itself is for the demo only.
About the project:
Set in a fantasy-inspired world, Golden Cauldron main character is a girl named Nadine. She’s been chasing a Golden Cauldron since she was a little girl believing it was the only way to become a successful alchemist. Only to learn that it was never some mythical item, but a place. A world renowned potion shop set in a sea side town. With a letter and a smile, Nadine gets her apprenticeship and faces the year long journey to becoming an alchemist.
How to audition;
Record lines (wav, mp3, ogg) with the best quality, upload in a zip or rar file (Sound Cloud okay too), and send link to me with the Subject as “Auditions GC” and the characters auditioned. In the body have your name and contact e-mail with the link to the audition files (Sound Cloud okay too). If you have a demo reel please feel free to send that link as well. Characters
Nadine (Female early 20s)
The main character, young, and doesn’t have much self-confidence. She’s very passionate about her dream of becoming an alchemist. She’s often calm and even toned.
Line1:
“There's no doubt in my mind! I really want to be an alchemist! There isn't any other kind of life I see myself in. Even if I end up in a back alley living out of a box I want to be an alchemist!”
Line2:
“It’s funny what you will believe as a child. I really thought that one could only become a good alchemist if they had a golden cauldron. I saved every coin I earned, but in the end I never did find one.”
Line3:
“He's a prince in love with Cinderella and I'm the step-sister.”
Lucy (Female early 20s, Perky)
Nadine best friend, who was left behind when Nadine moved. She’s very energetic and happy. Though, she has a terrible crush on her childhood friend Adrian and clams up and can’t speak to him. She’s very childish and a little of a coward.
Line1:
"I kind of have a crush on him...The year you left, was the year that he moved in, and we used to play here in the market. His name is Adrian, he just came back from a tour in the outer lands. He's so handsome...Listen, Nadine, will you go talk to him for me!"
Line2: (sadly)
"So, you did forget me. My name is Lucy Allans, we used to know each other a long time ago. I have a letter here from your mother saying that you were moving back."
Line3:
"Hmm, that wasn't me. You must be dreaming things Nadine. I was right behind you the whole time!"
Mrs. Bryant (Female, Early 70, Stern)
The adoptive grandmother to Cyris and Adrian. She works as an assistant at the clinic Cyris runs. She promised their father that she’d always watch out for the boys. She’s very stern, but has a patient hand and kind heart. She doesn’t baby people and though grown still treats Cyris and Adrian like children caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
Line 1:
“The funnel cakes' sugar will feed your sickness child. *sighs* I know it's boring at the clinic, especially when there's a festival, but it's for the best dear.”
Line2:
“Hmm...well it looks like we'll have to extend you a credit. Pay part now, and then you can pay the rest when you can.”
Line3:
“Me? My name is Mrs. Bryant. I've been working at this clinic since my mother was a nurse here herself.”
Carol (Female mid to late 30s, Pleasant)
Daughter of Mr. Greaveson and Loghain’s aunt. She has a young son named Alex that she brings to every festival. She is very cheerful and motherly towards everyone. At the moment she’s having some martial problems with her husband.
Line 1: (passionate)
"Mood killer! The moonflower is a great nocturnal flower that blossoms under the moonlight and when two lovers are close they sparkle. End of story!"
Line2:
"I can't believe it! Look how much she's grown. You were no bigger than my son Alex the last time I saw you."
Line3:
"And miss our father daughter ballooning. Never! Mark can jump in a river for all I care. He's at a meeting right now, though I wish he'd come to this festival with the family."
Cherie (Female, 20s, Bitchy)
The ex-girlfriend of Loghain. Very flirty and trying to make Loghain jealous that she’s moved on and he hasn’t. She very bitter and cruel to him, but he did break her heart. I’d say she’s haughty, flirtly, and a little high pitched.
Line1: (False Enthusiam)
“Oh! So you're the one who picked up the pieces of poor Loghain's heart.”
Line2: (Insulting)
“So coy. Honestly, darling no taste or strength enough to handle a brave girl?”
Line3:
"I'm just doing my job, throwing out my trash. Hmmm, not a very romantic dating spot. Is this the same place you took my innocence?"
Loghain (Male, 20s, Flirt)
Can be seen as a little arrogant, Loghain’s a flirt, but can come off more corny then anything. He’s very confidant with a bright smile. He was once the heir to the Golden Cauldron. He’s since renounce his ownership, but that doesn’t stop him from arguing with his uncle every time he’s home. Loghain has burns on his left cheek from an accident years ago. He nearly lost his arm and has serious scarring on his torso.
Line1:
(shrugs) Didn't really matter--you'd figure it out anyway. Besides, I'd rather you chase me than I chase you.
Line 2: (serious)
Listen, Nadine, we're close and all, but don't ask me about the scar okay? It's not a pretty scar and it's not a pretty story.
Line 3:
"Yep, and you darling are a treasure of apprentices."
Adrian (Male, 20s, Daydreamer)
He was a solider until he came home from his last tour. Now he’s mainly seen wandering around the market and working as a clerk. He’s got his head in the clouds always and can be a little distant. He’s not as shy as people think and can be a little direct when he speaks. He has a tendency to drift away sometimes. He is the younger brother to Cyris and Lucy’s childhood friend.
Line 1:
"I'm still a pilot. Do you always have to be making potions to be an alchemist?"
Line2:
"You know even though the world is vast...the sky doesn't seem to change much. If you keep your face toward the clouds the world isn't different and you're not as far away from home then."
Cyris(Male, late20s)
Adrian’s older brother, very kind-heart and confident. He doesn’t like to see people complain and is very serious when it comes to his practice. He speak gently, but doesn’t coddle people. He is also rarely seen angry.
Line One: (Gently, trying not to startle Nadine as she is waking up at the clinic for the first time.)
"Hey...are you awake no...?
You had everyone quiet worried.
It's all right now...
Hi, so you've decided to join us again?"
Line Two: (Concerned)
"Let's get you back to the clinic, you're starting to loose some color."
Line Three: (jokenly/playful)
"(laughs) Let me know before you crawl into a cardboard box somewhere. There are plenty of other places much warmer then that.
Couldn't have you contracting some illness from that box, now that would be my concern."
Mr. Greaveson (Male, Mid-60)
The owner of the Golden Cauldron. Known to be short-tempered and bitter. He’s often seen with a scowl and is rather grumpy. Though he’s hot-headed to most, he’s a very patient man. He can seem a bit aloof at times.
Line1: (nostolgic, happy memory)
"You're mother carved her initials here, something about being her mark on this old place. Take a look."
Line2: (indifferent)
"Yeah, these are fine. Don't go selling stuff you wouldn't drink. You wouldn't want your reputation ruined before you've even started."
Line 3: (Arguing with Loghain)
“Just don't walk out Loghain!
Th-his is your right! You have worked too hard to just let it all go!
Loghain! You're wastinng your life! Don't throw away your potential!”
Alex (Male, PreSchooler)
Very shy pre-schooler Alex who doesn’t say very much, but clings to his mother and grandfather like they were his life line.
Line 1:
"Grandpa, we'll lose are place in line. Come back."
Line2:
"...erro."
Line3:
"Daddy work-a-holic."
