[NaNoRenO 2016] Idols! (Musicians Needed)

#1 Post by Mikomi » Mon Feb 29, 2016 5:58 pm

Hello, hello! A friend and I are working together on a project for NaNoRenO, but we need two more people on our team!

Project Information:
We want to make an idol-themed game, where the player is an idol-in-training who meets several other idols along their way and has to out-sing them through a mini game. During the week, the player trains, and on weekends the player sings against other idols. There will be a lot of colorful characters in the game, and we already have an idea of most of the characters.

Members Needed:
We have an artist, a writer, and a programmer, but we need a music artist! This is going to be a music-based game, so a musician is highly needed!

Ways of Contact:
Please either reply here, PM me on Lemmasoft, or tweet at me!

Current Team Members:

Miko (me)
I've worked on several visual novels alone and with groups. All my finished visual novels are on my Itch.io. I will be the programmer on this project and work on a few character concept designs.

Violora
She has been an artist for over 5 years, and has worked on visual novels before. Her art can be seen on her art tumblr. She will be working on the CGs and sprites, as well as some of the character concept designs.

Your game sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun to make and play. If you don't mind, I just have a couple questions I'd like to ask you about your project:

- For the writing position, how much text do you anticipate would be needed for the game? Have you come up with a schedule as to when the text needs to be delivered?
- Have you and your partner already come up with the general outline of the plot? Or would the writer have to draft that out on his/her/their own?
- Would the writer be expected to write in ren'py script?

And just some general questions...
- What genre does your story fall into? Specifically, what is the main source of conflict that the plot will revolve around?
- Is there any romance in this story? If so, between which genders?
- Are there major branches to your story or does it, more or less, fall into the category of kinetic novels (albeit with stats-raising aspects)?

Thanks for your time. Best of luck with your project!

I'd estimate <8k words for the game, although it will have small branching paths, since the player chooses where to go during the week when not singing against idols. I would think that receiving the text in chunks would be okay, in order to space out the deadlines, but the first deadline would need to be in a week.

We have a general outline- the player is a contestant on a show where at the end of each week, the player has to do a minigame where they try to out-sing the other idols. During the week, the player talks to the other idols. The more friendlier the other contestants are to the player, the easier they will be to beat- the more they hate the player, the harder they will be to beat. Basically what we'll need is someone to write the introduction, the day-to-day encounters, and the scenes where the player and the contestants try to out sing each other.

I don't think that will be necessary, since I've rewrote a script into an actual Ren'Py script before. Sending it to me in a text-based document like Word or Google Drive would be great.

The genre would probably be fantasy/adventure with a great deal of comedy, since it's not every day that you're a contestant on a show.

Any romance will be left up to the writer, as I and Violora have no preference.

The only major branches will be win or fail.

Thank you for your interest!
