Hello! I'm the lead dev for Pokémon Academy Life, a fan made visual novel based on the Pokémon universe. Right now a very well-received public demo is available on Game Jolt, which you can download for free for yourself. I would strongly recommend you play through the demo before considering to write for us, as it's expected you're familiar with the characters.
We have a very small creative team consisting only of me, our lead writer/artist, and some occasional contributors. In order to speed up the story progression, we need more writers to help us out. So if you're interested, here's what we need you to do.
Rather than have you send any writing sample, please write a brand new script based on the scenario we provide you. We will tell you what the scene is, where’s the setting and who the characters are. We would prefer that you portray the characters based on their personalities in the current game, but it is not necessary.
Send your writing to pokemonvisualdev@gmail.com with the subject line: Writing Audition
In your email, please tell us about yourself in no more than four sentences.
Here’s what you need to write/send us:
This is a script focusing on dialogue. Please specify the speaker in each line. Provide brief descriptions of any action, gesture, or expression changes if necessary.
FAQ:
1. When is the deadline?
There is none. Take your time and send us your best work.
2. How many writers are you looking for?
At least 3-5. We will still be open to recruiting more even after we found who we need.
3. What genre should I write in?
We would prefer it to be just like what we have in the current game, but you can write however you want. What’s important is how you construct the conversations.
4. Can I use more characters beyond what’s requested for the scene?
Avoid doing so unless you find it absolutely necessary. If you decide to include more characters, please clearly state your reasoning.
If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask us. Thank you! We’re looking forward to what you can come up with.
