Just got done playing the FF XIII-2 demo, and I have to say it was VERY different from FF XIII. The battles were similar, but seemed more fun, there were actually NPCs YOU COULD TALK TO!!!! TOWNS YOU COULD EXPLORE!!! Still though, I am hesitent if I want to pre-order it...I mean when Versus comes out thats not even something I'm going to second guess, I'm just going to buy it the moment it comes avaible.

Hmm...I've read there were bad reviews for the FFXIII-2 (due to bad endings, or lack thereof). Honestly, I'm just waiting for FFversus13 and the FFX remake (gosh darn it Square Enix, we wanted FF7 remade! If you guys did that, you would make so much money!!)

But yeah, I'll probably pick up FFXIII-2 after a few months pass...I dunno, FF13 made me feel pretty empty. Not in a good way...>.>

It's Final Fantasy, so I'm going to buy all of it, I guess... though I really wish for a FFVII PS3 remake.

I was NOT very impressed with the demo, in fact I wrote almost a page worth of rage about it and the direction these ppl are taking the FF franchise in >.< Someone bring Hironobu Sakaguchi back!!!!!!

I've heard a lot of negative things about Final Fantasy 13-2 from those that have played and finished the Japanese version. They say it has no real ending, and nothing is resolved. Basically the whole story is just supposed to be a hook for ANOTHER sequel's story. Look for Final Fantasy 13-3 coming soon!

At this point the Final Fantasy series is truly into parody territory. "Final" my ass. When Deus Ex had a Final Fantasy 27 easter egg poster I was like, "Yep. I bet Square Enix will be up to that number in the series by then." Deus Ex Human Revolution takes place in 2027, so apparently Square Enix is saying they'll release one Final Fantasy game a year until then.

Well, it's supposed to be THE FINAL Square Soft's game... thankfully it wasn't. I also had a talk once about how one day we will play FF27 (years and years ago) or perhaps Final Fantasy Extreme 9. And how if Square Soft goes under, some companies will try to buy it and continue the legacy...

I know the history. It's just gotten ridiculous.

All the Final Fantasy's could have had different titles - SquareEnix just banks on the name recognition moving copies. If an individual game merited a real sequel, then they could go ahead and do that. But the whole FF13-2 deal (and rumor has it FF13-3  ) is just SquareEnix printing money. They can reuse assets and character models, use the same mechanics and graphics, have a built in excuse for rapid iterations, etc. Because let's face it, they aren't making (multiple!!) sequels to FF13 because it is the best Final Fantasy story they've ever created - they are doing it because it is an easy and cheap way to make gobs of money because they know there are millions of people out there that will buy anything they slap the label of "Final Fantasy" on.

If FF13 hadn't been a "Final Fantasy" game, if it was by another company besides SquareEnix, but everything else was the same, would it have had the "success" and sales it had? I don't think so.

I don't hate SquareEnix - I'm disappointed in them. Final Fantasy titles have become . . . soulless. Easy. A formula to follow and check off. I miss the company that gave us great and innovative RPGs like Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6-7, Super Mario RPG, Xenogears, Kingdom Hearts (which they are now also ruthless milking dry), etc.

And I want to shoot who ever writes the story for SquareEnix's RPGs now. Every new game the story is more and more convoluted. It has been a problem for years, but they've really taken it to 11 recently. Nothing but inexplicable plot twist after plot twist, layered dozens deep in a stew of metaphysical nonsense like a first year philosophy student's book got mixed up with the script.
