Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
Ohohoho~ It's only seven dollars. Definitely buying it.
My friends might make fun of me for wasting 7 bucks on it, but screw them.
As long as it'll make me laugh, it's worth it. XD

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
I saw the full version on the worksafe side of DLSite this morning. Here you go: http://www.dlsite.com/eng/work/=/produc ... 91090.htmlCidz wrote:... it seems the full version got an english translation (source: http://moa810.tumblr.com/)
hasn't been announced yet, when and where to buy...
I played the freeware version in English, and enjoyed it. Not sure how much content the full version will have. More complex gameplay, more story routes, or something else?
The freeware version seemed to be strictly GxB. One of the tags on DLSite is 'yaoi.' I wonder if that's accurate. Maybe the full version will include BxB relationships...

That yaoi thing confused a lot of other people as well, but moa herself said
So I kind of doubt it?"BTW they added “yaoi” tag though, the long story is just “bromance” I think. You know this is Otome game!"

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
So I finally played this, and I had to ask myself, "Am I really going to buy a date sim where the guys are all actually birds?"
Yes. Yes I am.Besides, I spend more than that on coffee.
Yes. Yes I am.

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
The meaning of 'yaoi' on DLsite is not what we think of as the meaning of 'yaoi'. Their 'yaoi' tag generally just means 'aimed at a female audience' as far as I can tell. They have a separate tag for actual male-male content.
It's just one of those weird cultural confusions, I think.

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
After playing this game, I too want to make an otome game where the MC dates a sapient animal. Hilarity ensues! Okay, unless it's like
On the other hand, I know about
Nageki's path, what with the being dead and having committed suicide. That was sadder than I was expecting.
Maybe a bit in part because I was contemplating adopting a pigeon/dove a bit ago, so I'm just like, TxT. At least he's not a chicken or a duck; I've had those as pets. :COn the other hand, I know about
the doctor bird murdering you/doing terrible things to your body,
but it's like...HE'S A BIRD. I CAN'T FIND THIS SCARY."I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love."

Otome games in japan usually mean a game aimed towards females. BL/JPyaoi is included in this.GARLICBREAD wrote:That yaoi thing confused a lot of other people as well, but moa herself saidSo I kind of doubt it?"BTW they added “yaoi” tag though, the long story is just “bromance” I think. Hm sounds like what I said in another topic? Anyway, what moa means is that there's no yaoi or that it's just not tagged correctly or something. English isn't her first language but I'm pretty sure that's what she meant even if yaoi can fall under the otome tag.HigurashiKira wrote:Otome games in japan usually mean a game aimed towards females. @higurashi:
Um... otome games doesn't mean it has YAOI( as in there is 0% yaoi in an OTOME game, unless it's a sub-category like the heroine is a fujoshi and loves yaoi or stuff but otome games never had yaoi as their central plot ever since otome games were produced.). That is also the very reason why it was called otome. It was to avoid confusions on whether the game is an GxB or BxB. BL/yaoi is a different category from Otome and the only time they would be the same is when it was categorized as a bishounen game.

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
^From what I've read, otome is a blanket term for games geared at women, so BL does fall under that category. However, it has become more associated with GxB games. I would have linked to my source, but it seems they keep changing between definition (Blast those open source resources)

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
I'd love to see where you've seen that lie that BL falls on otome game category. seriously, many otome gamers will rage at you for saying that. Especially those who plays otome games but thinks BL is creepy. It's like saying that my fave food is the same as my most hated food.
To easily explain and avoid anymore confusions, I've made this thing to show how BL would NEVER EVER fall on otome game category. also, even if the BL game is not an 18+ it will still not fall on otome games.
*sorry if I'm out-of-topic, but false informations should be corrected. And while I don't hate BL, never once in my life had I ever think/heard that it gets mixed up with otome games.

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
Well, thank you for clearing it up. I confused them since the first time I looked up the information both BL and GxB games were put under the otome tags on both VNDB and Wikipedia, and both were recently changed. So pardon the confusion. Though considering that both are aimed towards women, I don't see any harm in labeling female targeted games as otome. Same as male-oriented games are labaled as bishoujo even though there are many denominations.OtomeWeekend wrote:I'd love to see where you've seen that lie that BL falls on otome game category. seriously, many otome gamers will rage at you for saying that. Off topic, I noticed how we're constantly at each other about certain terms used in certain ways. Shows the whole Western Fandom v. Eastern fandom quite nicely if you asked me.

Off-topic: Not seeing it as a bad thing as long as there are no offensive meanings on what we talk about. Isn't it in the western ways to voice out your own opinions?HigurashiKira wrote:Off topic, I noticed how we're constantly at each other about certain terms used in certain ways. and point of views are different unless you tell me you are actually a girl!

This game is like the Princess Tutu of VNs: misleadingly sugary title, epic darkness.
Forever Alone: Nerds the Gathering - A brotome game. (Nerdy Valentine's Day Card and small status update 2/14/14)
Night at the Hospital - Maiden voyage of Team Snugglebunny
Skylessia: Tale of the Boon - Epic fantasy whatsit, currently on hiatus.
Viking Pipsqueak Productions Blog (under construction)
Ioccasionally frequently draw other people's characters. Now offering delinquentization, medievalization, and cyborgification. Hit me up in PM if you want sprites for your KN or non-ren'ai VN.

Re: Hatoful Boyfriend
I never really watched Princess Tutu, but I HAVE seen The Brave Little Toaster, which is what this makes me think of. It has such a cutesy, happy sounding name for such a depressing movie filled with death.
