do you play mmo games?

#1 Post by OtomeWeekend » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:44 pm

If yes, what are the games do you play?

Well, I recently getting addicted on mmos again for some...reason. I used to play the eng. ver. of lucent heart but stopped and change to the japanese ver instead now and play tartaros which i always see in hinano's blog

I'm not really looking for a new game to play but just wanted to ask everyone(but, if there is an interesting one, I might grab it as long as it is not region-locked 8)

Over the years I've played loads of different MMOs, but the only one that I ever really stuck with was Final Fantasy XI, and that was mostly because of the people as opposed to the gameplay. I find it harder to get into MMOs these days, especially after the disaster of FFXIV.

I hear Star Wars: The Old Republic is supposed to be pretty cool though, and I think it just came out of beta a day or two ago so I might check that out...

I used to play MMORPG, Ragnarok Online (and Counter Strike, when it first came out). But frankly, playing MMO is a big waste of time... and to make thing worse, it's extremely addictive. So we'd better stay out of it... unless you are a very strict with time and could manage your own schedule.

I've heard many story (directly and indirectly, some even experienced by my friends/students first hand) that many people's RL is in mess because of MMO games. And my own personal experience (when playing both games I mentioned above), my grade almost went free fall (I got several of my first ever B during that time). I quited playing MMO games and my grades back to straight A's (sorry if it sounds arrogant).

Spiral knights is a really nice one. it's adorable, hard to get addicted to because it limits your playtime, and you can actually be good at it. Haven't played in a while, but I totally recommend it.

I just got Megaten Imagine running on my mac last night though. Took me like 7 hours to get everything working but I'm so excited!

I play MMORPGs, though not anymore. I've tried over a hundred of them, but only with a few I bothered to keep on playing (because most of them are crappy games/rip-offs of each other). If the name Celianna is already taken when creating a new character on a MMORPG, then it's probably me

My favourite, which I still log onto sometimes, is Pristontale - one of the oldest MMORPGs that is still alive and kicking - I've been a member for over 5 years. A newer MMORPG that is free to play up till level 5, is Freerealms. So addicting, I swear. It's very much designed for kids, so I wouldn't play it to meet people (talk about censorship!), but the mini-games are extremely addictive, and the music is awesome.

Runes of Magic is a nice free alternative to World of Warcraft, if anyone is interested.

Haha, I'm cheap and was bored, so I played Runescape a while ago. Don't play much anymore, but it's perfect for when I want to be brain-numb. Not terribly interesting.
I also played Perfect World for a while but quit after a few days. Nice graphics, and it can be free, too. I don't know how interesting it is, since I didn't play for more than a few days.

I'm not really into MMO's. Usually I play for a month or so then I start to lose motivation to continue playing them. But my friends keep making me play so I've played a considerable number over the years. I've played Tantra, FLYFF, Rose Online and WoW. I also used to play on Gaia Online. Their MMO there was decent enough. LOL And the most recent one my friends have made me play is called Glitch. Though that one is flash-based.

There were a few my friends played without me. Perfect World is one. Then there was Forsaken World, which my friends told me was similar to Perfect World but better.

This.

I avoid them like the plague. They slaughter productivity and social life like nothing else. I may get addicted to single player games for a couple of weeks, but at least they END.

I played Everquest when it first came out, but couldn't afford the monthly subscription (thankfully). I played Final Fantasy XI, but quit after a few weeks.
I played WOW when it first released for 3 months - then I canceled my subscription, uninstalled the game, cracked the disc in half and threw it away and I've never touched an MMO since.

When MMOs advance to the point of Star Trek's holodecks the human race is doomed. I'm calling it now. :(

I've played a bunch of MMOs throughout my life. The ones I played longest were Ragnarok Online, FlyFF, Ether Saga, and Guild Wars. Since graduating from high school, though, I've just not had much time for them. My online friends have aged with me and none of us have much time for them. Without friends, MMOs are just no fun to play. (heck, I barely have time for regular videogames, let alone MMOs which are made to be timesinks) My cousins have picked up the new Star Wars one and have been begging me to play it with them, but I just don't … have time for it. @_@ A while back I bought a subscription to RIFT and logged in like 4 times in 3 months. (the game is awesome, by the way, this is just to illustrate how little time I have to play) Biggest waste of money ever. ): So now I know better and choose to just not bother with them. ^^; Oh I play Glitch from time to time, but I don't know if that really counts.

I used to play Flyff, Runescape, Cabal (before it closed) and MapleStory, but I never got very far in them xD I agree that they really can slaughter productivity, but it's never happened to me because I get bored very easily. >>; I'd like to find one where the gameplay isn't just about grinding to level up/get quest drops. I'm more attracted to music/rhythm games (I don't think you can call them MMOs?) ... Games like Audition, Osu!, O2Jam etc. At least they require skill over mindlessly clicking on enemies. :P

Well, its not really about wasting my time or anything but you know, playing mmo releases stress sometimes. I played Lucent heart(eng ver) 3 months ago while being confined at home due to an illness(<--I extremely thought I'd die from. Many of my close lemmasoft-ers knows this.lol) and somehow, it helped me feel better than staring at that white thing above me.

@celianna: Pristontale? When I was 7 years old, i was able to got the installation CD of that game(which was a freebie when I bought my gameboy advance sp and final fantasy 4 advance back then<---I remember it very well. ) and really wanted to play it if only I was owning a computer back then <.< I thought it was taken down though? Or was it the server in the Philippines only?

Btw, Is glitch fun? O.o? It was the first time I've heard of it though ^^; I'm actually surprised no one is playing lucent heart despite the fact that everyone(at least hardcore mmo players or even normal ones) claimed it is very popular and booming but I really don't know now since I'm sticking to the japanese game which is of course while still popular is not that much anymore considering it was released around 3~4 years from now.

Been playing the Lord of the Rings Online a lot recently. Also been trying to download Myst Online but it's not working T_T
I often get bored of MMOs very quickly once the level progression slows to a crawl and there's almost no quests, but LOTRO is keeping my interest very well.

PT has never been taken down, it has always been up. For several long years it was P2P, but then they switched to F2P with a cash shop, then there was a server merge (you probably lost all your characters if you didn't participate in it) - and now Subagames took over the server and it's still alive and well. In fact, it's doing more than okay, since Subagames is heavily updating the game with fixes and newer features, which is awesome. It's been online since 2001.

I didn't realize PT had a CD installation though ._.

@Desu_Cake: I get bored of quests, but can completely entertain myself when there's no quest to be found
